Former Tennessee standout Marcus Haislip is expected to sign with the San Antonio Spurs after a league-wide moratorium ends Wednesday.

The San Antonio Express News reported Haislip has agreed in principle to the transaction, further speculating that Haislip’s deal could reach $1.9 million.

Haislip, a 6-foot-10, 230-pound power forward, played for the Vols 1999-2002, averaging 16.7 points and 6.7 rebounds his junior year before declaring early for the NBA draft.

Haislip was chosen with the No. 13 overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2002 draft and spent two years with the franchise before moving on to play for the Indiana Pacers for the 2004-05 season.

It was off to Turkey from there, as Haislip signed on with Ulkerspor for the 2005-06 season. Hae was selected to the Turkish Basketball League All-Star game and won the slam dunk contest.

After another year playing in Turkey, Haislip signed with Spain’s Unicaja Malaga in July of 2007. The Lewisburg, Tenn., native spent the past two seasons in Spain, averaging 16.7 points while polishing his skills.

Haislip, 28, will join C.J. Watson of the Golden State Warriors as the only Vols currently playing in the NBA.
