As Tennessee basketball coach Bruce Pearl predicted when Philip Jurick left his program, the 6-foot-10 former East Ridge High School star has landed at Chattanooga State.
In a conversation Thursday at the local community college, Jurick said he expected he would get some playing time for the Volunteers this coming season but not as much as he felt he needed after redshirting last year. He plans to play a season for the Tigers and coach Jay Price and then move on again.

Can this staff recruit?

I think this a brilliant win-win for the team and the individual. Solves a scholarship crunch, Philip is eligible immediately, and he gets maximum playing time with a former Vol as coach. If mutually agreed, he can come back and play for the Vols next year. If they want to go separate ways, so be it.

Wait... am I reading complaining about our basketball program?
Bigger_Al writes:
Amazingly, you are. They would seem to either be jealous rival fans OR Cheatin' Illini fans. Or maybe warped Phil fans that think ruining our basketball program would somehow make them feel better about things.
To the naysayers, has our basketball program EVER been in better shape?

I hope the coaching staff can take the time to look at Alex Wells, Jurick's teammate at Chattanooga State and also his teammate at East Ridge HS. I don't know if he is SEC material, but I think he's worth a look.

Yes. Turned down Florida, Kentucky, and Indiana to sign with UT. Apparently needs a lot of work on his offensive game.

Yes, you are. You must be new, or smart enough to not read comments on basketball articles. They are out in force on every b-ball article, and it's always the same 4 or 5 scholars.
I'm beginning to wonder what their real reason for hating Bruce Pearl is. I hope it's not what I think it is.
