Freshman running back Toney Williams underwent successful ACL reconstruction surgery on his right knee on Wednesday at UT Medical Center, Tennessee head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh said in a UT sports information office release.
The procedure was performed by Drs. Greg Mathien and Russ Betcher of Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic.
Williams hurt his knee during voluntary workouts last month. The Alpharetta, Ga., native will miss the 2009 season but is expected to return to full strength in time for Tennessee’s 2010 spring drills.
