Pearl-led U.S. Maccabi team to play Mexico

Men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl will lead the U.S. Maccabi Team against Mexico today as tournament play begins at Aviv Hall in Tel Aviv, Israel, in the 18th World Maccabiah Games.

UT sophomore Steven Pearl scored 15 points and was one of five Americans to score in double figures as the USA posted a 94-32 victory over Canada in an exhibition game Sunday.

Opening ceremonies for the Games took place Monday night with American Jason Lezak, who won an Olympic gold medal in swimming, lighting the torch.

I didn't know there were Jews in Mexico! Prediction: US 104 to negative 3.

There aren't. Hence, the brilliance of coaching in this tournament. I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that Israel will face Germany, wait, no, make that the US, in the finals. (kidding)

Seriously Coach, you know we Americans love championships, so bring us home one.

How many tournaments has Bruce Pearl coached in that were held in Knoxville, TN?

I thought you had to have some Jewish ancestry to compete in this event.
