ATHENS, Ga. — Andy Landers is signed to remain the Georgia women’s basketball coach for three more years, through the 2013-14 season.
Landers, who’s from Maryville and was a 2007 inductee into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, has been the Georgia coach since 1979. With Landers, Georgia is one of only four schools in the country to post a winning record in all 28 seasons since women’s basketball became an NCAA sport in 1981-82.
Georgia athletic director Damon Evans said Landers’ “commitment and dedication” to the program “is outstanding.”
Landers, who is one of only five major college women’s basketball coaches to top the 800-win plateau, said he looks forward “to continuing our quest to win a national championship.”
