SEC launches syndicated SEC Network with ESPN

The SEC and ESPN Regional Television announced The SEC Network, a regionally syndicated endeavor that SEC commissioner Mike Slive said is "the largest college sports syndication television rights package in the country."

The SEC Network will be available in at least 47 percent of the country and 54 million homes. It will be broadcast in all the SEC states along with some markets in other parts of the U.S. on local stations or regional sports cable channels. The package is part of the 15-year contract reached last year between the conference and ESPN.

The football package features 13 consecutive weeks of games with a 12:21 p.m. kickoff on Saturdays. Matchups will be determined six to 12 days in advance. Dave Neal will be joined in the broadcast by Andre Ware and Cara Capuano.

The men's basketball package includes Wednesday and Saturday games beginning in January.

Women's basketball games will be shown on Sundays. WVLT and My VLT 2 have the package in Knoxville.

Fox Sports South also announced the Sept. 2 premiere of SEC Gridiron LIVE, a 60-minute studio show each Wednesday at 10 p.m. Former Tennessee defensive back Charles Davis will be the host, joined by Randy Cross, David Pollack and Cassidy Hubbarth.
