Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, shown on a video camera display, speaks with a reporters during a media availability at the Southeastern Conference football Media Days in Hoover , Ala. on Thursday, July 23, 2009.

The burning question of the day yesterday at what's officially called SEC Media Days, ostensibly the preseason media circus for Big Time football schools in the South, was about virginity.

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow's virginity.

Clay Travis of NCAA Fanhouse said: "I asked because I believe it's newsworthy and because, believe it or not, I thought Tim Tebow would answer the question by saying: 'Yes, I am.' Which is exactly what he did."

Travis also said: "That's the real story here: Tebow's willingness to be an individual in a time when it's easy to get lost in the crowd by making the popular decision. Good for him for standing up for his faith publicly, as he's done countless times before."

But many found the questioning troubling. The gaggle was a bit stunned. See some of the react below.

In fact, the reporter who asked the next question, stumbled on it and Tebow said: "I think you're stunned right now. You can't even ask a question. ... I was ready for that question, but I don't think ya'll were."

And, oh yeah, there's stillt he burning mystery of TebowGate. Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel predicts it is LSU Les Miles who didn't vote for Tebow for All-SEC. And Tebow made the cover of Sports Illustrated.

And those high powered coaching personalities, Mark Richt, Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Houston Nutt and Lane Kiffin. So far, just bit players in Tebow Media Days.

And do not accuse me of being a gator fan I just told my kid if he picked FL I would never come see his meets. He picked Michigan.

You just don't get it. I applaud this young man for embracing his Christian values and remaining celibate.

You say in 10 years he'll look back and regret it. I say in 10 years he'll look back and know he made the right decision.

Tim Tebow doesn't have to worry about getting an STD or fathering unwanted children. Would you rather your son model himself after Tim Tebow or Travis Henry? Would you rather your daughter marry Tim Tebow or someone like Travis Henry?

It takes more of a man to stand for what you believe in and go against the pressures of society when everybody is doing it.

And yes, I'm a Christian, a virgin, straight and much older than Tim Tebow. I also lived in Hess Hall in the mid 1970s when it had a reputation of being one of the wildest dorms in the Southeast. The guys on my floor knew what I stood for and still stand for, but they also knew I could have a good time within the limits I set for myself and they accepted me as part of the group.

Total agreement here. I appreciate your defending someone for having moral convictions and am troubled by how many hold lower standards up as a goal for our young folks. Its one thing for a bunch of college aged kids to mock a young man for such a stance, but it is sad when supposedly more mature men, age-wise, (which I presume most of the posters here to be), want to encourage and celebrate immorality as an ideal and mock one who dares stand above the crowd. no wonder so few younger men have convictions when they are being raised by so many who don't.

As much as I hate to say it, DC your correct on this subject. Tebow is a great guy and is a tremendous example for all Christians. His Heisman speech was a work of art. Saying that, he's still public enemy #1 when hes got his hands around a football and I hate Florida with a passion.

Thats your opinion and NOT a fact. Here are a few facts:
1) Tebow requested a projection from the NFL advisory committee on where he could expect to be selected in April's draft. After he got that report he elected to return to college. http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2...

2) Florida has brought in a new QB coach who is trying to "tweak his mechanics" to help him better his chances in the NFL. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports...

3) NFL draft analyst disagree with you too.
