Wallor to lead Central Florida golf

Bryce Wallor, who spent the past five seasons as an assistant golf coach at the University of Tennessee, was named head men's golf coach at University of Central Florida on Thursday.

Also Tennessee's director of instruction and player development, Wallor teamed with coach Jim Kelson to guide the Vols to the 2007 SEC title and five appearances in the NCAA Regionals.

Tennessee advanced to the NCAA championships three of those five trips.

Wallor is a two-time candidate (2008, 2009) for the Jan Strickland Award, presented to the nation's top assistant. He worked with five All-Americans, including two this past season: David Holmes and Chris Paisley.

A former player at Rhode Island (1993-98), Wallor began his college coaching career at Davidson, where he served as an assistant from 1999-2000. He was the head coach at Connecticut the next three years.
