No less than third and if they can Beat GA they finish 2nd.
The team's offensive stats will be much improved and the defense will score some points as it is M. Kiffin's style.
Keeping it Real
Go Vols!!!

That is ridiculous.

Whether Timmy and the Gators get a third ring and a second Heisman depends on two things:

1. How well Timmy keeps the Gators motivated.
2. How soon the media gets bored with all Timmy all the time and looks for some other Cinderella to dance with.

Who finishes second in the east? GaSCTnVyKy. The east is the the reincarnation of the west from the 90s.

I would say at best 3rd. I doubt Florida will lose & UGA should still be pretty good. Now if Garcia gets it together at South Carolina they could pass up UT. 5th or 6th are unlikely but this time last year 5-7 was unlikely too.

I hope everyone continues to think Tennessee is just going to lay down for opponents this year... just keep believing that.

Third. Could go up or down one depends on QB play and HC decisions. Go Vols

Docrok writes:

I think you will see marked improvement in our QB play, Hardesty has had some injuries but he has put in some good runs at TN. Tauren Poole is a sophmore and has been very impressive at times!! As for freshmen, I would look to see Bryce Brown early and often as the season progresses as I have heard he is the real deal! Additionally there have been alot of freshmen impact players especially at RB. I pick the Vols to finish second as GA I think is going to try a fifth year senior at QB who was benched in 06 in the middle of the game against TN cause he threw 2 picks in the first half which is when Stafford stepped in and took his spot! So look for GA to move to another Freshmen QB by midway through the season again! And SC has underachieved each of the last 2 seasons.

Bite your tongue after that comment about Vols over in North Carolina!

There are quite a few Power T's running around on cars in this town, and this in the middle of the state, 350 miles from Knoxville.

I picked them 4th . Just can't see Crompton getting that much better. Another unknown must be Kiffins coaching ability we just don't know. Only 5 wins with the Raiders that may mean nothing however the Raiders got better after he left. I look for the Raiders to challenge for the AFC west this year.

don't know how someone can be a paid sportswriter and be as ignorant as this. I expect 3rd and certainly no less than 4th.

I may get some major negative response to this statement but if UT finishes 6th in the East, there will be many fans out there questioning Kiff's coaching abilities.

UT grad and bleed orange, but you can't put us above USC, UG, or UF when we didn't beat them on the field. The only change from last year is the coaching staff. Here's hoping for 8-4. Go Vols!

atlvolsfan writes:

underrated is coveted place to be.... it's overrated you have to worry about (just ask Georgia or Alabama).... a lot of things can happen between now and the end of October....GO VOLS!!

trace5254 writes:

I believe UT will finish dead last. They simply have very little talent. Roll Tide - can't wait for the season!!!

second in east. defence beats dawgs, lose close one in swamp.

They'll go 4-4 in the league. Does that get you in 3rd in the East? They beat Kentucky, Vandy; lose to Bama, Florida; and then you have Georgia, Mississippi, SC, & Auburm as swing games. They split the swing games and they're 4-4 and what 3rd?

Yeah I do believe they will be about the same. They lost 16 of 44 players in the 1st & 2nd string. On top of that they had a patch work offensive & defensive line. Those both will be better as will the defense b/c they were very young last year due to injuries. On top of that Marlon Brown & AJ Green are studs at WR and with a decent QB in Joe Cox under center I like them to go 9-3 or 8-4 and still finish 2nd in the East. Just one question though are you serious in thinking that after a 5-7 season with a bad QB, bad offensive line, & a weak receiving corp that UT will finish 2nd. If that's true let me get some of that crack you're smoking.

Well, yeah, if that happened, LOTS of people would question CLK's coaching. However, I firmly believe that the only way that could happen is if we had an unprecedented run of season-ending injuries in the early going. We ARE thin in some key areas, but if everyone stays reasonably healthy, we should have a decent season, at least reversing last year's record.

PS: I both voted in the poll (third) and posted a comment on this article the day it came out. My earlier comment is no longer on here. I at least hope my vote was counted, for what that's worth. What's up with that? Someone tried to answer a similar complaint I had before, just after the change in the site format, but the explanation frankly didn't make sense to me. It just seems to me that once a comment has been posted and has actually appeared in the thread, it should always be there unless it is "removed by staff". If not, why not? I'll try harder to understand the explanation if one is offered. Has this happened to anyone else on here?

If UNC is the Minor Leagues compared to Tennessee, what league would you put Wyoming?
That's right!!!!!!!!!!
FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am inclined to rank the SEC East as follows:
1. Florida
2. Georgia
3. Tennessee
4. South Carolina
5. Vanderbilt
6. Kentucky
I could see Tennessee dropping to South Carolina, but it looks unlikely. The games with Florida and Georgia will be over with in a hurry, especially Florida. The rest will be a slugfest (Vandy and UK in particular)

OrangeBlur writes:

Second. We hung with Florida in the first half last year, then laid down. UF is going to hang 60 or 70 on us? That's complete BS. We'll take Georgia for sure. Gamecocks always questionable. I wouldn't want to have Coach O all up in my grill.

licknpromise777#651578 writes:

Gamecocks could be dangerous this year because they have recruited well last 2 years but they aren't consitant on game day..All I want to do is beat the puppy dawgs..that would really make my season..We won't beat the gators because it's to early in the season and they will be playing the same game plans they have used for 4 years..But than again monte might keep them guessing, Go VOL's just beat GA!!!
