NASHVILLE — Lane Kiffin made remarks this year that riled fans from Florida to Alabama, but the first-year Tennessee coach never picked on his neighbors in Nashville.
The tone remained friendly on Thursday.
Kiffin and Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson shared the stage at the Wildhorse Saloon, talking football and trading punch lines for a packed house of fans during a Comcast Spotlight Sports Speakers Series luncheon.
“I wasn’t insulted by the lack of insults,” Johnson said of Kiffin’s previous comments.

Probably because he wasn't "throwing insults" out. He was speaking to HIS teams fanbase and exciting them a little. It was never meant to be such a big deal. Maybe we can get another story on it so it can be rekindled by these Gainesville Sun writers we have undercover in Knoxville.

Now that's funny, right there.

The big fish was brunetti..The Chattanooga radio guys admitting that today. Their source is said to be rarely wrong.

Yeah. You don't want to upset someone that could do something that hasn't happened since Dickey: Lose to Vandy in your first year!
LOL. I guess Kiffin respects Johnson for some unknown reason.

I for 1 like Vandy when they are not playing the Vols. No reason for them not to get along.
USCJohn1999 writes:
Vandy does seem to be the underdog in the SEC (aside from 2005) and it is always nice to root for the underdog.
tdtnsee writes:
So is brunetti going to decommit from W vir and commit to the vols? If so what's the hold up? Well someone at usc is going to be upset either Barkley or the red shirt fresman , forgot his name but if barkley wins the job then look for one of them to transfer. Tennessee would be a great oppurtunity for QB to come in and get a lot of Playing time.
USCJohn1999 writes:
Tennessee would be a nice place for them to transfer seeing how Kiffin probably runs the same offense as USC, but sitting out a year might be a waste of time. Look at Mustain. I have no idea why he transferred. Did he honestly think he was going to transfer in and start?

You my friend, well your not my friend. But you are an idiot!

Is Mustain a junior or senior.

not competing with Vandy for recruits, no jokes needed.

The real joke is all these gator fans and bama fans on this board, must really be nervous about whats going on. Change is coming!

I hear the Kif is taking voice lessons so he's in key when we sing Rocky Top All Night Long in Gainsville.
Stay stupid my friend!

Nice post at 2am. Were you drinking Dos Equis and trying to convince yourself that you are not really a loser?

When asked by a fan if he would be reciting General Neyland's game maxims prior to kick-off, Kiffin quipped "No"..................."actually we're going to have a former player come in each game and lead the team in the maxims".
This dude has got some ideas
$20 says Al Wilson has to be restrained from going on the field when it's his turn.

VolfanfromFlorida here to say .... Last thing you want to do is piss of florida not to mention Alabama. Things were going to be tough enough as they were. Florida has third stringers to die for. Nothing I want more than to wax Florida, however it is just NOT going to happen. We will be lucky to leave the game with our heads attached IMO. Ten has potential and I hope Im wrong big time, but now is not the time to poke at Florida! I hear they are frothing at the mouth because of us. Going to be a tough season IMO.
mstanfor#611387 writes:
Ask Doug Johhnson who Al Wilson is. I bet he remembers. And if you dont remember who Doug Johnson is......he was sort of in the middle of the long list of Fla. quarterbacks to fail in the NFL!!! Peace out.

Could someone plz explain to me exactly what the rumor is surrounding Brunetti? I've tried to keep up with the threads but work is killing me this week.

The other QB at SoCal is Aaron Corp. Many SoCal fans think he's going to be "the guy" there for the next two years. (That gave me some hope that Barkley might be the rumored "big fish", but oh well.)

Will lil' Urbie's next brilliant move be for returning former players read Clippin' Tim's post-Ol' Miss speech before kickoff?
You can tell when a program has no history. They are forced to post and recite quotes from current players. Amateurs!
You clowns should probably stick with this speech from a UF alum:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgbBP9...
You could flash it on the video board at half-time. Maybe you could even have the fans stand up and recite it in unison? Wouldn't y'all be proud to have ESPN show this at halftime?

beat us up pretty good the last two years, but continuing to dominate is something you guys have not accomplished since the early nineties. Please don't go holding your breath. Well on second thought.....

One thing the Tide is dominating is the SEC's longest losing streak.
Got a cupcake opener, though, and should pick up an easy victory, even without John Parker.
cmoore7 writes:
Every coach extends open invitations to former players, D A. Kiffin is bringing them back to lead a pregame tradition(you know, longer than 20 years). I don't think UF has any of these since their program only became relevant towards the end of the 1970's.
Meyer has only been the coach for four seasons.
Al Wilson. The dude that caused three turnovers and wadded up the collective a##es of Doug Johnson, Travis McGriff, and Travis Taylor in a matter of about 2 1/2 hours.
Awaiting your reply that will undoubtedly not stay within the scope of any statements I made(e.g. "Meyer has been bringing back players for five years now")

Dang, you can't even get away with a little sarcasm these days.
Some people even picked Ole Miss to have a shot at the West.
We'll know soon, I may have to grow a mullet.

I dont think its gonna matter. For one do you think florida tried any less last year to kill us, and when teams start trying too hard they mess up, no matter if they are "florduh "or not. Im not sure who will win,but I know it'll be a lot closer if we do lose. This is Kiffin's year to run the show. WE may not be great next year but in 2010... look out. Go Vols!
