Hope this is NOT where Lane plans on getting his big Uglies for the OL.

can you have your picture taken with the wife instead?

Yeah I don't get why are they charging? Sounds more like a fund raiser to me.

Volfantm writes:

It's not something new, they've done it for years. And some women know enough about football to ace the yearlong pickem games if you haven't noticed. No beginner phooey required.

heck of an idea. I was at the Charlotte race a few weeks back and it was 50/50 guys and gals. The marketing in the trailers etc is slowly turning to gain more groupies. The more the fems are involved the better (easier) it gets to park in front of the TV or get permission to buy tickets!!!

ps, RollTide is just jealous because Saban didn't think of it first.

Sounds like you've been to WTC!!!! It's all about expanding the fan base and getting people involved.

FriendOfTheProgram writes:

Quite a few schools are doing this now. Nebraska started doing it when Callahan was coach. They donate the proceeds to cancer research. They had almost 1000 women attend earlier this week. If this becomes an annual event for UT it would be great to see them do something similar.

NobodyCares (Inactive) writes:

Sounds like something that lil' zzgatorboy and lil' DCgatorboy should attend. They might learn something about college football.

turner_c writes:

Perhaps it's time folks looked at the percentage of female students enrolled at UTK, they are the future grads, donor, and fundtraisers for the program.

Maybe, if the gals from Alabama and North Florida show up.

What you guys need is institutional control.

Is that for women - women, or the football team he will field in August?

Lou Holtz did this back in the early 80's at Arkansas and wrote a book for the Ladies called "The Kitchen Quarterback"

It is.

In all seriousness. I'm being 100% sincere here. Could you UF and UA people who post a hundred times on each story (including one about a T-shirt and Lane's Camp for Girls), please, please, please tell what you do for a living? I think a lot of us would love to know how you have the time to spend all freakin day and night here. I barely have time to read stuff on my team, let alone go to the Tuscaloosa or Gainesville newspaper site. Are you independently wealthy, laid off, homeless, a student? Fess up boys.

Yeah, Bammer should be handing out NCAA rule books instead of text books.

It helps to know which account you are signed in under. Most of us just have one and have never been banned, but for others, I'm sure it can become taxing.

Unfortunately, I'm older than most on this blog, even though I do know who Biggie is.
Yes, I'm well aware that historically Bama is our biggest rival but even you have to admit that since the SEC went to the 2 division format, Fla has become the biggest rival of our beloved Rocky Top. Thanks in large part to the antics and barbs of Johnson City's own Steve Spurrier and now Oscar Meyer and his side kick, Panty Boy.

Bama is a great program, but until they are serious contenders for a NC every year as FLA has been recently, this UT fan recognizes UF as our biggest rival with Bama a close second.
Lets hear from the rest of the Orange Nation...

RollTide987, this is a case of people trying to drive a wedge between Florida and Alabama.

We didn't slap Alabama around. Bama damn near beat us, unlike another team that we DID slap around 30-6!

Agreed Chuck. Bama is and always will be (unless they screw up again and get the death penalty) our number one rival in the SEC. Because of Spurrier, Florida become our number two rival and our number one rival in the SEC East.

Younger fans tend to think of Florida as our primary rival because the Alabama game has not had as much significance of late due to Alabama's woes between Stallings and Saban not to mention our woes with consistency since 2001.

Times they are a'changin. There is no doubt that Saban has turned Alabama around. As much as it pains me to say it, I think they are a legitimate contender for a NC this year along with Florida. Hopefully we can play spoiler to one or (a fan can dream) both.

It is hard to argue against in-state rivals. They are always heated. Most of the players have been playing with or against each other since pee-wee football. Unfortunately that is something UT does not have in football. Sure, Vandy and Memphis occasionally sneak up on us but they are usually doormats.

Historically, no team has beaten Alabama more than UT. Of course the reverse of that is true. We have played each other 90 times with you guys taking 46 Ws to our 37 and 7 ties. You have played Auburn only 67 times and have a much higher winning percentage against them than us. Not of course in the Tubberville era. I'm sure you are glad he's gone.

I have to admit that I love we are getting into a rivalry discussion in the comment section of a "girls day out" story. It just goes to show you, were there are women, men will follow.
