The 2009 All Ping!Baseball Team was announced Friday and Tennessee sophomore first baseman Cody Hawn was among those honored. The Knoxville native was named to the second team.

Hawn, who went to high school at South Doyle, became just the tenth Vol to ever win the team Triple Crown after he led the Vols in batting average (.364), home runs (22), RBIs (81), hits (72), doubles (15) and slugging percentage (.773).

His 22 homers rank second on Tennessee’s all-time list while he also ranks in top 10 for a season in RBIs (third), total bases (ninth) and slugging percentage (seventh). He collected a team-best 22 multi-hit games as well as 21 multi-RBI games. The sophomore batted .422 against right-handed pitchers and .381 with runners in scoring position along with hitting .321 in SEC play with 34 hits, nine home runs and 34 RBIs.

Hawn was one of only three first baseman honored on the first and second teams.

Attaboy, Cody! You may not be in a class by yourself when it comes to UT baseball, but it sure doesn't take the teacher long to call roll.

Doug Hecker doesn't have record. It's Sonny Cortez with 24 in 1998. Hecker's career-high was 18 in 1991.

Todd Helton (1995), Chris Burke (2001) and Chuck Barclift (1980) are tied for third with 20.
