Middle Tennessee State University sophomore Bryce Brentz, a former standout at South-Doyle High School, was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-American first team as a utility player for his contributions as an outfielder and pitcher.
Meanwhile, first baseman Cody Hawn became Tennessee's 36th All-America when he was named a third-team selection.
The former South-Doyle and Walters State star and rising junior led the Vols in batting average (.364), home runs (22), RBI (81), hits (72), doubles (15) and slugging percentage (.773).
Brentz hit .465 with 28 home runs and 73 RBIs. He was also named Louisville Slugger First Team All-America.
