Tennessee's Darren Renwick fell in the semifinals Friday of the British Amateur Championships at Formby, England.

Renwick lost to Italian Matteo Manassero, 4 and 3. He advanced to the semifinals by beating Scotland's Mark Hillson, 2-up in a Friday morning round.

Renwick began this week’s championship by firing a 145 during stroke-play to qualify for match play. After receiving a first-round bye, he had a 2-up victory over Sweden’s Pontus Widegren. He followed that with a pair of Thursday victories, 7 and 5 over England’s Tommy King and 1 up over American Steve Ziegler.
