It would be huge to get him just for the fact that more OL and WR's would start to commit. Honestly, I'm more concerned about getting O-linemen. Another tight end wouldn't hurt.
Without a doubt he is THE most important recruit for UT. You know how sometimes you just have a gut feeling about some things? I really feel the Scroggins kid is the future of Tennessee football. Alongside the Brown and Oku combination in the backfield, it's gonna seem like the glory days all over again. After Jesse commits, just watch the firworks go off for the offensive side of this years recruiting. Come on over to Knoxville Jesse, everyone is ready and waiting for you. Go Big Orange!

I agree, but I would take it a step further: landing Scroggins is essential to Kifffin's future here at UT. We see the positive effect that Coach Monte Kiffin and Coach Ed O has had recruiting on the defensive side of the ball: everyone wants to play with an NFL legend... But, Coach Lane Kiffin has a time limit, and he has got to get his guy, and he's got to get his guy help on offense. I think Scroggins is his guy. I like Scroggins. He can make every throw, and he has the legs to escape when needed. The Guy is a Volunteer legend waiting to happen. I think we're gonna get him.
We do need a QB, but lets wait and see what Kiff can do with what he has. He may be able to make something out of nothing. Give him time we are short on tallent but I believe these kids are buying into him and will play harder than they did last season.

Yeah, good point. Your right, Scroggins would be credited to Kiffin's offense so it really would be key for Kiffin to land him and get his side of the ball covered with big name recruits and talent as well.
The difference JS would make is the difference between a top 10 class and a top 2 class. It's the difference between a slow climb back to the top and a quick climb.
Yes JS comes from a tough area to grow up in, but to have the success he's had in that environment is overachieving to say the least. That is the sign of a winner. He trows extremely accuratly on the run. He can make any throw on the field. He's very elusive and makes good decisions. He's a leader.
Hands down the most important recruit to land in Kiffin's first 4 years as UT's Head Coach.Big time offensive recruits are watching and waiting to see how this pans out. If JS wants to make a HUGE impact on a team, he needs to step on up to Rocky Top.
I would take Rettig over him any day! Rettig proved he's got what it takes at skills camp and he has no current offers. Kiffin needs to be smart and offer this kid. Hell, we offered Brunetti, why not offer Rettig.

In a perfect world I would take Rettig and Scroggins. Rettig has the arm but for some reason teams are passing on him. Folks are saying that Rettig will be a hot item after shining his SR. season. Scroggins is already there. Who knows how good Scroggins will be after his Sr. season. I would like Scroggins and get Rettig to compete with him. Surely we could not miss between the 2 of them.

Agreed!! I just think if Kiffin was to offer him now, then Rettig would commit.

I made these comments ASSUMING Andrew Hendrix is pretty much done with us. He seems stuck on ND and OSU plus he stated that his dream school is Penn St. If they offer Hendrix may go there. Scroggins and either Strauss from Mia. or Rettig. Go get'em CLK!

I like Rettig too. But to say you'd take Rettig, who has no offers, over Scroggins who has about 30 offers with his top 3 being USC, UF and UT, is puzzling. What would your reasoning be? Scroggins is way ahead of Rettig and just plain better, by far.

My reasoning is because I think Scroggins is overated. If you put Scroggins in different class with better QB'S, I bet he would be a *** recruit. Judging from his highlights, I consider him overated. While Rettig on the other hand is underated, he will be on every teams radar after his SR year, you just wait.

If that's the case, Rettig would be a 0* not even on the map in a better QB class,JMO. I'm also willing to bet Scroggins plays against tougher competition. Having Compton, Crenshaw, and Long Beach Poly on his schedule is pretty darn tough. The LB POLY team puts out tons of D-1 talent. Not to mention Scroggins has 4-5 D-1 prospects on his team. That may be another reason his WRs are wide open, they are just flat out good.

I've seen a lot of Scroggins highlights. I'm not a talent evaluator, but to me his highlights are about as good as Heaps'. From what I've seen Scroggins is way more accurate though. With colleges like UF, LSU and USC, not to mention UT, offering Scroggins and not Rettig, I'd have to go with JS. I'll admit, I'd like to have Rettig. After transferring to a larger school, he has a chance to show more this year. Scroggins is a big time recruit though, and IMO, for good reason.
The only reason why Rettig's recruitment has blown up yet, is because he transfered to San Clemente and teams want to wait and see how good he does there. I for one, think he will become a standout player and will receive many offers once he shows how good he is during his SR year. Kiffin needs to offer him and get him on board. If it scares away Scroggins so be it, It just shows he's afraid of competition.

Agreed, I hope nobody thought I was saying Scroggins is a bad QB, because thats not the case. I just don't think he is as good as everyone is making him out to be. I would be happy to have Scroggins, as long as he contributes to the team. I just think in the long run Rettig will be the better QB.

I remember this being said about Crompton. The number 1 QB in the country at the time. I guess I could assume he was a victim of coaching but you hope a QB is a natural.

I agree it's very important Naval but not being in the meetings with coaches, it's so hard to put a value on these kids!!! He seems to be a perfect fit and I would take this guy over Heap just because you never know about the mission trip!!! Mapu was never even close to the same after his mission work. Only time will tell but You always seem to have good takes Naval. GO VOLS TXVOLSFAN
I hear you rich and I agree he's a thug. We need Nick Lamaison.
IF and only if he is a thug as you say, he is a thug with a 3.6 gpa..im just saying. kiffin said himself he takes brains over arm strength, and im not sure that you could take cromptons gpa at the end of each year and add it together and get 3.6...
FWIW, i think we already have one maybe two QB's committed this year. You will not hear anything about them until the scenario over the top H.S. QB's play out. I think we have a great chance of signing Scroggins due to Washington signing Montana, Brantley at F.U., Bama's signees, LSWho's stable, USC being 267 deep in QB's. But, that's my opinion.

I'm with you. I OBVIOUSLY was being a smart a## when I said he was a thug. Folks that have been reading the last day or 2 know where I'm coming from. You hit the nail on the head, he has a 3.6GPA! By the way, my wife is an ETSU grad. Killer screen name.
You need to read his comments on Rivals. He list UT third, Fla second, and gives all his reasons that USC is first. He also refused to work out for UT, but put in overtime for USC and earned an offer.
