Todd Chandler maintains he is committed to Miami - even though he doesn't sound like it.
"I'm committed but Tennessee is starting to weigh on me; I can say that," said the highly touted defensive tackle from Northwestern High School in Miami
Chandler visited Knoxville this weekend as part of Tennessee's summer camp. The Vols, led by defensive line coach Ed Orgeron, made an impression.
"That had my mind wandering a lot," the 6-foot-1, 290-pounder said of his college decision. "It was real competitive up there. Coach O taught me a lot of things. He showed me some things I could improve on in my game. All around, it was just a good time."
Chandler also spent time with UT coaches Lane and Monte Kiffin. The attention Chandler received has already warranted a return visit.
"Oh yeah," Chandler said. "I'll definitely take an official visit to Tennessee."
Chandler said he is primarily considering UT, Miami and Georgia. He said he'll visit Athens for a camp in mid-July.
Chandler is also considering North Carolina and Florida International. He'll also visit Oregon this summer.
"It's going to come down to signing day," Chandler said.
Chandler said he's unsure what Miami's coaches will think about him visiting UT.
"I didn't tell them I was in Tennessee," he said. "I told them I was going to a couple of camps and stuff. I didn't go into specifics."
Chandler's teammate, offensive guard Torrian Wilson, did not make the trip to UT's camp as previously planned. Both are considered to be in the top 250 prospects in the nation.

I like the sound of this, the more the better. But if he does come to the good side, wouldnt that make it about 50 DL commits for next year?
bigtangerine writes:
What about OLs?
The DLs are getting on board, but we need offensive linemen like Wilson much more. Wilson runs circles around Jose on the same high school team.
The OL situation is critical...

Rivals has him listed as position player 11 in country. Runs a 5.19 40.

Agreed. If Scroggins commits we will have OL and WR starting to commit

It will come down to signing day..here we go again. Already saying it will be signing day when he commits. Whatever.

Sometimes DL's become OL's.

Exactly. I would never commit to Alabama while being on probation. If they even fart on probation they can forget a bowl game.

Its amazing what this coaching staff is doing. I heard Seastrunk and Luc were also at camp. This is unbelievable.

Seastrunk will end up at the University of Mars.

Have the same concern..where are the committments?

Don't fret yourself over it. Bama is just fine and will have another big season. Worry about your own program; there's enough there to worry about.

Very old school TJ. Methinks your humor falls on some younger deaf ears, but Alex Karras is chuckling somewhere. Or was it Don Meredith?
TommyJack writes:
I new someone would get it. :)

You're right, bama was on probation when they were selling books, repeat offenders, no real penalty. bama cheats! gators suck & cheat! GO VOLS!!!

Gerry, you and TJ are beginning to worry me. I'm beginning to think you guys may be almost as old as me.
I'm glad you remembered Sistrunk's name! I was beginning to stroke out trying to remember who it was. But I can still see the steam rising off that bald head. That was some good stuff.
GO VOLS!!!

The powers that be should do away with this "commitment" concept. It has no relevance and no meaning. Unfortunately it's probably a commentary on society in general. Lack of commitment is seen everywhere, fatherless kids, dropping out of school, etc. Now having said that, I'm all for this guy coming to UT.

Chandler is a lock for Miami. He has told everyone he taking his "visits" but there is no way he is playing anywhere other than in Coral Gables next year!
There are players to be had in S. Florida, you'll just have to lure them away from FIU and FAU.
