Greeson: Bryce Brown likely one of SEC's new Fab 4

Recruits hear it. Programs sell it. Fans love it.

And coaches understandably hope to avoid it at all costs.

Meet the impact newcomer, college football's current big thing. Or its next biggest disappointment.

There's little wiggle room for those anointed with such lavish preceding praise. For every Andre Smith and Darren McFadden, there are matching stories of James Banks and Tray Blackmon.

Five stars from a recruiting service can be four years of three-and-outs for those too burdened by being the "One."

I always thought that EA was a fantastic quarterback. All of the spoiled, idiots who complained that coach Cut was "waisting our Tebow" know better.

To answer your question, as a Vol fan I would love to see him have a good year, but I don't think he is capable of it. JMO

The rotation we will have at RB will be awesome, although we will miss Williams. The O-Line will block better (not Clawson scheme). BB will start slow but will come on strong. Ahh yes, this will be a completely different team, maybe not dominant but competitive. I for one would be satisfied with that this year. GO VOLS!!!

I agree 100% Our RB rotation will be incredible!

Our O-line was destroyed by the clawfense last year. I am so glad he is gone. I can't wait to see what he does with the rest of his career.

I thought that signing BB would help us bring in a big time QB. I mean wouldn't you like to be able to hand the ball off to this guy a couple of times and loosen up the defense a little so you could show your stuff? QB's seem to be a little more fickel these days lord knows there's playing time to be had. GO VOLS !!!!!!

Crompton may deserve another chance,.....but someone else, the team, and the fans also deserve to see someone else get a chance to do better than he has done. For every additional chance a Crompton, a Fulmer, or anyone else gets is another chance someone else is denied just as deserved oportunity.

I hope Crompton does well for the sake of the team this year, the coaches, and the fans, and even for Crompton ...and also for the reason that there frankly isn't really another good option right now.

But it is time for him to do and not just for the fans to hope; deserved or not.

we have what we have at QB and who knows maybe they can work miracles with Crompton and he can manage the off. and I think we have good enough RBs that can carry this team to at least a 8-4 mark and maybe a 9-3 but it all depends on our QB play. But if some how they can bring Crompton to reality then who knows.stranger things have happened.

I think we get Laimason. I'm not sure exactly when the deadline is I think it's sometime in July. That being said can he download enough of the offense this fall to contribute is the question.

Hey Chris what's up? I'm not on here to comment on Crompton, I was talking more about signing a QB for next year. It's like you said this year we have what we have.

Back from a little vacation in Gator country, UT fans mark it down, the QB will be #17 Nick Stephens, listen what the coaches say, we want a QB with a big arm that is intelligent..enough said..Stephens to Richardson, Stephens to Moore, as opposed to one-hopper

TnScooby writes:

IMO, Stephens has a better chance at success with the approach CLK and staff showed after camp. I'm sure Cromp will get the initial opportunity but I have faith in Stephens to take care of the ball and make some of the deep throws that UT will need to open up the running game. JMO...........How do you misspell the reporters name in the headline of this article???????????? Glesson? wow!

Go Vols!!!!!

I would think that getting BB would help with getting a great QB prospect. I am not giving up, it is simple logic.

I may be wrong but wasn't Nick supposed to have the strongest arm but took to many chances.

Yep.

Nick is the man.

No disrespect to Jon but Nick has the fire to go with Lane's stones.

looks like Stephens has a pretty good arm in both of these videos, especially at nine seconds of the second one against Georgia.

I know that we brought in a lot of really good recruits in our 2009 class but how come no one is more hyped up about Jerod Askew coming in at LB? He clearly loves Tennessee as he never hesitated in his commitment, he is in the top 80 players in the class of 2009 according to Rivals and in addition to all that the kid has dreadlocks! DREADLOCKS THAT'S AWESOME!

All Crompton has to do is go out and manage the game and control the time of possession....nothing fancy.

Now this is about "The Beast" Bryce Brown....so here is some highlights:

Check out the McNASTY SPIN MOVE AT 1:32 seconds of the video...maybe he'll just use that to break Brandon Spikes ankles this year!!!!

after teams gets a dose of Bryce then they can get some of this.

Fulmer's regime recruited the boy wonder but it helps if you actually develop their talent and coach'em up. Crompton never got the benefit of Cut as Ainge was his boy and the Clawfence was the bust of the century.

No one will be banned for talking logically. Maybe for being idiotic jerks like the majority of the Florida fans on this site

Kinda seems silly someone calling others "idiotic" when they have panties in their name :-)

Logic has its place for sure. Although, complete logic requires QB's to be the number one in the list of weaknesses. HELLO!...Hello...hello...(I'm just playin, now :p )
I would suggest orange kool-aid by the shot. Bottom's up!!

SWARM!!

Yeh, I actually feel bad for criticizing him. He was never developed and had no chance with the Clawfense.

The Clawfense was the bust of the century. Just think about it, it destroyed Fulmer's chance to coach another year-the minute he hired him his carreer was over. Considering his accomplishments, that is pretty harsh.

That's the best you've got? That was a pretty lame link. Kudos to Tebow- he is a great quarterback and represents the SEC well- he deserves the honor. Most Tennessee fans respect Tebow- the problem is that the media hypes him as if he is more than just a great college quarterback- they laud him with accolades that have nothing to do with his football skills- and somehow place some kind of sainthood on him. Fans of opposing schools grow nauseated by it. A little perfume is good every now and then- but we don't want to drink it.

Just check out the Army All American game - Bryce was co-mvp and was playing against the very best high school talent in the nation. There's plenty of video on youtube - he's the real deal and I'm overjoyed that he's wearing orange!!!
