Lauren Spurlock, a rising junior at Tennessee, tied for second in the stroke-play qualifier at the Tennessee Women's Amateur Championship.
With Memphis under a heat warning and temperatures Tuesday reaching over 100, scores were a little high at Memphis Country Club.
Spurlock had two birdies and 12 pars and shot 2-over-par 74, one shot behind Brooke Pancake, a rising sophomore at Alabama. Spurlock earned the No. 3 seed in the match-play portion of the championship flight and will play 30th-seed Rhonda Nadasdi today.
UT's Ginny Brown, a rising senior, tied for fourth at 75. She earned the sixth seed and will play No. 27 Paula Bell.
Leigh Henderson, an incoming freshman at UT from Webb School, shot 81 to tie for 22nd and will be the No. 26 seed. Her opponent is seventh-seed and former Farragut standout Alyssa Randolph of Kentucky, who tied for fourth at 75.
Kendall Martindale, a rising junior at Jefferson County High School, also shot 75. Former Farragut standout Jillian Brodd of Ole Miss shot 78 and tied for eighth.
Defending champion Lorie Warren of Hendersonville received a bye and is the top seed.
