Vol signee Chaney named state track athlete of year

Maryville High School distance runner Jordan Chaney, a Tennessee signee, was honored as the Gatorade Tennessee boys track and field athlete of the year, the company announced Tuesday.

The senior won the 1600-meter run at the state Class AAA championship in a time of 4 minutes, 13.19 seconds. He finished second in the 800 meters in 1:51.93. He is the school record-holder in both events.

Another great signee for the Vol track program.

I've heard his GPA is solid. I've also seen the kid run in person, and I guarantee he'll push Franklin and Peacock a lot next year in the 800. UT's domination in the 800 should be pretty steady for the next few years if these guys can keep up the hard work. Welcome to Big Orange Country, Jordan!

What do you mean no more "Woo" after Good Ole Rocky Top??? That's the best part of the song when it's live in Neyland.

Let me guess, you're a redneck who'd rather have the Osborne Brothers play the banjo bluegrass version after every TD instead of the UT marching band? Sounds about right.

The banjo should be in the marching band.

Woo is for losers and not part of the song. Get it right.

The bonjo makes it bluegrass. The "woo" makes it redneck.
