KNOXVILLE -- Lane Kiffin, like most college coaches, wanted to surround himself with familiar, friendly faces as soon as he took the Tennessee job in December.
"I knew who I wanted," Kiffin said months later.
And James Cregg was one of the first assistant coaches he wanted.

Article ends kind of abruptly, awkwardly... I guess CJC decided to go lift!

Okay, is it just me or does KNS always patch in on other paper's articles? Why doesn't KNS write their own quality articles. It is sad the the hometown paper of the Vols can't write their own articles.

Cregg's last statement about getting the linemen in shape and at a proper weight tells me that the offensive line will be much more productive. The past several years our line has been big and slow and ineffective. It wasn't their toughness I questioned so much as it was their ability to move and their endurance.
Anyone that has played football will tell you that in most cases whoever hits the other first will win the battle in the trenches...especially if their abilities are equally matched. Our lines were just too slow to fire out quick enough to gain the advantage.
We may not win all our games this year or in the future but we are back on the right path to being a really good football team.

Signed an agreement to post articles of Tennessee papers on here and vice versa. Cross-marketing strategy since no one really reads the paper anymore.

The newspaper industry has taken huge hits lately due to the downturn in the economy and the change in reader habits.
Real estate and car dealerships have traditionally been the leaders in local advertising. But then when Cirucit City and other nationl chains going under ad sales and profits are down. As a results, newspapers are downsizing as well.
Many newspapers have cut 30 percent or more of their editors and writers to survive the economic times. The best way to try and give readers a variety of stories is to from an alliance with other papers to share stories. By teasing a story from the Tennessean or Free Press and then giving the link, both papers get credit for the hit on the story which equates to advertising revenues.

Last year I saw players sitting on the bench with their heads in their hands. Seemingly out of breath and tired even before the 1st half was finished.
Defenesive linemen beating them off the ball and attacking UT in it's own backfield.
Now there is enough blame to go around for the failures in a 5-7 season. We have piled on JC, Foster and the receivers for their lack of production but the truth is it all begins up front. The line surrendered more sacks in the first 2 games last year than they did the entire year in the season before that. Some of that was due to a new offensive system that flipped players from position to position, but some of it had to do with conditioning or lack there of.
It has been encouraging since this new staff was assembled the push on conditioning. The weights and running aren't the kind of things you read about in the headlines, but come this fall it will make a big difference in winning and losing games.
Discipline begins in the training rooms. Keeping the minds from becoming idle.
Notice how quite the police blotter has been at UT so far this off season?

Fulmer's linemen were always fat, dumb and happy and it showed against the likes of Nebraska and other elite programs.

I was about to ask the same question. When is the last time they've written an original, quality article? Always links to the Tennessean or this Chattanooga paper. Maybe we should cut the middle man and just go straight to those sites. I already do with the Tennessean guess I'll start with the Chatt paper too

Good link. Hope Jacques passes on the return visit. They might make him an offer he can't refuse.

One link stated that he would wait until July to make a decision.

The past VOLS have always been lazy looking in the heat of September. This is going to be interesting to see how much this team improves its heat resistance.
