I'm in Pearl's corner, but it does seem interesting to me that Buzz's teams were able to shoot free throws but Pearl's aren't. I would guess it has something to do with the caliber of recruit. Looks like we have 5 or 6 Shaq's on this team.

I don't know I but UT would be better off not playing Florida or Vandy I think b/c it's hard to beat a team 3 times & both of which could be the first 2 games UT plays. I doubt though that UT gets out of the 1st weekend of the NCAA Tourny but if they make the Elite 8 I'll revoke my statement and eat some crow.

A really elite coach will adjust his personell to play to their strength.On paper,this was an elite team.On the court,they are terrible at times.These players are not as good as advertised or the Coach is not as good as we thought.Either way,this team will not get far in either tournament.Here is hopeing there is a rabbit in the hat that Pearl will pull out,but I would not bet on it.Right now,it looks like win number 20 will be a major accomplishment.Pearl has been really good at promoting and on paper, recruiting,but his coaching this season has not been up to expectations.His team plays too reckless and sometimes too selfish.

After watching UT v. Alabubba and then Duke v. UNC on TV, I have a thought (that I'm sure I'll get flamed for). Teams that look sharp play sharp and teams that look sloppy play sloppy.
Duke and UNC unis FIT! The shorts came to the knee and the jerseys looked to be custom made for the athlete. I didn't notice any delays to get jerseys tucked in, nor did I see jerseys tucked in the front but flapping in the back.
The Vols jerseys look big enough to fit two players and some of those shorts drop to their shins. Sloppy Look, Sloppy Play!

That's what I'd like to see...but I have no confidence in that whatsoever. 2 wins and a loss in the SEC. I'll wait to see who we play in the NCAA's before making that call, but I do not see two wins there. Hope I am wrong!

However, when I saw those teams, UNC was at least as athletic as we are, don't take many plays off, can shoot, and have great PG play. Duke can really shoot and play more like a team. They sure aren't athletic and don't seem very deep, but they make up for it by being extremely coordinated on the floor. I couldn't see us playing within single digits of those two teams unfortunately.
I believe we can handle teams outside of the top 10 on good/great nights (like when we played UF and USC), but even on the good nights I don't see us taking down a great team. I do think we can beat Memphis, but I don't think they belong in the top 10.

You are very insightful. BP is a good coach. 1st year with blue chip recruits. They present a different kind of challenge. He will adjust, bringing in some role players, speed, and dothe things that he has to do. I suspect we have at least one assistant who needs a new view out of his window and I think we need some non star leadership. But 10 years ago we would have pulled the doormat off of our face and cheered for this season. This team probably won't go far, too inconsistent to put together a solid run. The ego is too fragile, and the identity too weak. Our admin held the Fulmer era too long, and in doing so has created a "panic driven psyche" in our fan base. It is no time to be down on the program or the coaches, a touch of patience and a little realism and we look to next year, but it won't be next decade like it used to be.

The Vols have not done well in the SEC tourniment, but saved there play for the NCAA tounement. But I'm sure if CBP fills we need to make a good showing in the SEC we will win at least 2 games.

You are right that UT's team is lazy & hotdog alot but they still had your Tigers by the balls & aren't even that good as you say. Oh & again mr. mouth where's Memphis's championships since they're so great b/c my team has 2 this decade.

I'm definately straight! But I love Tebow! From all I've heard he's a great Christian and I'm sorry but that would leave out the option spoken in a previous blog! Definatetly a great leader and example for young ones. I'd like to believe that's true.
