this is a ridiculous story. so the conversation happened in the "wee hours of the morning" . how did the coach confirm it, was he there? this is coming from the ole' ball coach. Chris Low should be reprimanded, this is National Enquirer reporting-your source is an 18 year old and it is confirmed by his HS coach who certainly was not there when it occurred. Stupid!

Everyone knows you can't work at a gas station in prison, so the comment is obviously false.

Actually to answer your question since you didn't read the article is the kid and the head coach locked up in a hotel overnight to make his decision, so the HS head coach was with him all night.

VolMoment writes:

Steve Spurrier said once, "if Tennessee gets all their players out of jail". The media said the ole coach has gotten under Flumer's skin once more. Even if Lane said it, which I doubt, why the different treatment. Maybe they think he is doing something good for UT football.

I think if Kiffin denies it then he didn't say it. Besides since he has been alive there hasn't been anything but self serve!!!

Actualy does it really matter? No way a KID makes a comment going to a rival school? Come on, get out of here...

And Chris Low is almost as bad as John Adams, this guy writes garbage in the sake of tearing down UT football, so what he writes for ESPN, big whoop

Actually it does matter....your head coach is supposed to be somebody that the players look up to. His idiotic comments and behavior is something to be proud of. Chris Low isnt tearing down UT football your head coach is doing that all by himself.

I don't think he would deny it if he really said it. He hasn't denied any of the other stuff. Also, if he did say it why haven't we heard anything from Spurrier? You know he would be running his mouth if he thought it was true....

nwcs writes:

Doesn't matter if he said it or not. It's still funny. Reminds me of the joke at Vanderbilt years ago that even though UT beats Vanderbilt every year they all end up working for a Vandy player sooner or later.

While I still wish Kiffin weren't associated with this comment, if what you say is true, that only makes me all the more angry.

Ribbing rival schools over taking their coaches (AL) or taking their recruits (FL) is one thing, but this comment is over the top and derogatory. So I reallly hope Kiffin didn't say this to this kid, but even if he did the treatment he has gotten from the media compared to Spurrier's treatment is frustrating.

Actually that article doesn't say he was there with his coach. However, another article I read said his coach got him a hotel room but he spent the night with one of his teamates.

Lame Kiffin gets the treated differently than the ol ball coach because Spurrier is who he is and Kiffin is a nobody.

I completely agree. If you read the actual story you will notice it is over populated with qoutes until it gets to the point of what Kiffin said and then there are no qoutes from Jeffrey or his coach. That tells me they did not say exactly what the writer wanted to portray so he took the liberty to spin in a little manipulation of wording to get people to read his story. If you take out the lie no one cares about his story on Jeffrey. If writers were held as accountable for what they say and print as they try to hold coaches and players none of them would have a job.

Why don't you learn to filter truth from media garbage by using that air between your ears other people call a brain and think for yourself, instead of having to be told by someone else what you think. Calling someone you have never even meet stupid is pretty childish and ignorant on its own. And P.S. If there were 2 other people in the room you were not 1 of them so shut your pie hole.

He hasnt lied! He said he said the other comments just said it was a mistake! I dont think it was a mistake myself! I was fired up and laughed my rear off! As to this comment he says he didnt say it and I am inclined to believe him! For starters he has said since getting here he is not going to get into negative recruiting! Orson Charles stated Kiffin was polite and wished him well so why would he treat Jeffries any different? However if Kiffin had stated he made the comments I would think it was jestful and funny however he says he didnt! And I am going to take Coach Kiff's word for it! Again he hasnt lied to my knowledge! Maybe made statements others think he should not have but far as I know not blatantly lied!

"On the eve of signing day, his football coach, Walter Wilson, sensed that Jeffrey needed to get away from everything and took him to a hotel in nearby Orangeburg, S.C., to stay the night following his basketball game. Also there was one of Jeffrey's high school teammates, Eric Mack, who will be one of the most highly recruited offensive linemen in the country next year."
ummm....Jeffery + his coach + Mack = 3 poeple....sorry i felt like I had to spell it out or rather add it up for you. hahaha

I am neither naive nor do I have a vested interest in the man except the hope that he leads TN in the right direction! Only someone with a personal vendetta would post such rhetoric! Kiffin may have a sharp tongue but he has proven he knows the way to win! Whether you like Ed Orgeron or not it is consensus that he is the best D-Line coach in college football and gets the most out of those players! Additionally is considered one of the top recruiters in the country! And these are both true or LSU would not have thrown such a high price tag at him! Monte is unchallenged the best defensive mind in football! And Pete Carroll says Lane is the brightest offensive mind he has seen, and no offense but I would rather take his word for it than yours or some sportswriter!

So first you said 2 and now your saying 3 at any rate "1" of the 3 was not "you" so "you" do not know what was said and neither do we. But what I do find interesting is in the written story none of the 3 people that were supposedly there are directly qouted as to what was actually said. And I find it rather weird that a Highschool coach would take two players to a hotel. What was Mack under alot of recruiting pressure that night too being that he is a Jr.

Be careful what you wish for. These kids coming to the swamp will not be the same kids coached by Fulmer. There will be no fear in them. I believe that they will relish the underdog role and make it a game. They have something to prove. May not win, but it will not be a blowout. Who knows? Could be an upset.

The Michigan player he told he spoke to Carr and Carr told him the player would fit better in his system! The player, Jevan Snead who he said he was not recruiting any other QBs and that Tebow was being recruited as a LB!
