An Air Brushed Muscle T-shirt of Coach O would also be fitting.

We should have it at BMS though, think of it... 160,000+... that would never be topped.

wasn't there a rumor floating around about UT maybe playing Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway?

Won't happen. Hammy will not give up the coin he can make off of a home game.

yeah, VaTech was in, but UT would not commit to it, and with the new island in the infield now, it might make it hard (but I'm sure it could still be worked out, if Hammy would show some love to us Tri-Cities Vols).

AD had nothing to do with it, the west side of Neyland is under construction...

I know that, but Neyland isn't the only stadium in the state...

LP Field?

john#208876 writes:

This comes from Wikipedia -
"In 2005, track owner Bruton Smith made a public offer of $20 million apiece to the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech to schedule a non-conference college football game between the powerhouse Volunteers and Hokies' programs. Smith suggested that grass could be grown in the infield section of the racetrack. Virginia Tech showed much interest and nearly agreed to the proposal but Tennessee on the other hand showed little or no interest and in fact avoided the offer which made this possibility ultimately fall by the wayside.[7]

If a football game was held at BMS, it would undoubtedly draw over 150,000 spectators, which would break all previous American team sports records for attendance. The track's location near the Virginia/Tennessee state line puts BMS about 125 miles (201 km) from Tech's campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, and about 110 miles (180 km) from the UT campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. However, holding a football game at the site would now seem highly impractical following the recent construction of the aforementioned scoring pylon and four-sided video screen in the middle of the infield."

In actual fact UT did have interest, however when Bruton Smith found out he would not own the TV rights due to the two schools' existing conference TV contracts he realized ticket prices would have to be $200 to $300 apiece to recoup his expense; deal breaker!

We already share LP Field with TSU. I think we can do without another college team there. On top of that, Knoxville needs the dollars drawn in by the traveling fans

Wish I could be there... Wonder if they will sell the Camp Kiffin t-shirts seperately without buying a ticket... My kids would love to wear them to school here in Gator land!!!

I don't see how having one game there due to construction would be that big of an imposition... It's not like the Titans didn't use college fields when they first moved here.... oh wait! (Liberty Zone Bowl Stadium, home of the Tigers)

Let me just caution against lofty expectations this next season. TN fans (and I am one) tend to hold their coaches to a ridiculous standard at times, and are not willing to look at the bigger picture (do NOT read anything about FULMER in that statement).

Just give these guys time is all I am saying. Next year, we could very well be 5-7 again. I certainly hope not, but it IS within reason.

I really don't think that's a rumor. I actually remember reading that somewhere myself (maybe with Lane's letter he put out?)! It is due to the construction on the West part of the stadium.
