Kiffin to hold chalk talk for fans

Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin is hosting a free chalk talk for fans Monday at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Turkey Creek. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.

Following the talk, Kiffin will appear inside Texas Roadhouse for the Vol Network’s weekly “Vol Calls” broadcast at 8.

“Vol Calls,” the official call-in talk show for University of Tennessee athletics, can be heard statewide on close to 60 radio stations across Tennessee and online for free at UTsports.com.

Cool, if I still lived in K-town I would go. I heard Kiffin on Dan Patrick yesterday,I think if we give him a decent amount of time he will do well.

your a good man, what with the temptation

Gotta be impressed with his energy. Kiffin is everywhere. ESPN, Rome, AJC. Say what you like but he is getting max exposure for the program. Not too long ago I remember very sleepy times between seasons.

Anybody have the lowdown on today's practice? We need some fresh meat KNS.

Yes, I do get it. Ah I remember those days fondly when getting between season news meant going to the FYI section. It may happen again over the summer but I don't think Kiffin will be as forgiving. Not bashing Phil, I just prefer Kiffin's no BS stance so far.

And thanks Kap. I had seen the practice schedule but forgot what the on and off days were. I am just waiting to see the headline every one else would like to see. "Starting QB separates himself from the pack".

he wa on rome?? that dude hates kiffin with a passion.

I don't care much for rome, he's annoying and obnoxious and a butt-kisser.

dvhill100 writes:

I am not a big Rome person too, but he did give props to LK and UT. He said "I have talked more about UT in the last two months than in the last five years combined."

Maybe they will have the game at the Bristol track and 200k can fit in!

I had heard he was. I don't listen to Rome. The guy is a complete tool. Maybe it was just that Rome talks about Kiffin all the time, I dunno. The point is that Kiffin seems to be everywhere, and that is a great thing for recruiting the top kids.

ColeTrickle writes:

I am salavating for recruiting news, my Bryce Brown high has held me over for a while but I was curious if anyone knew any news...i.e. what the QB status was, any talk about OL recruits??? anything helps. thanks God Bless, (no card board sign;)

His emails are scripted and written in a back room. His show is garbage.

Ironcity writes:

Funny talk with Dan Patrick and Kiffin in Hookers blog. He mentions that his wife went to UF and is a Tebow fan and that he was late speaking getting on the air with Patrick because he was trying to close a recruit.

The more I hear Kiffin the better I like him.

Do you think someone can ask Lane about his comments on the Dan Patrick
Show. He said he would like to go back to the NFL but on Dec 1 during his introductory speech he said that his agent was going to hate him for saying this but I'm not going back to the NFL.

Like somebody said the other day, Lane's motto is "Love me, hate me, just don't ignore me."

They'll have to close Kingston Pike from Papermill Road to Cedar Bluff over this. That place will be an absolute madhouse.

Godd for Kiff. You can't fault that man's effort. He is working like heck in ways heck didn't know it could get worked.

Fulmer is a multi-millionaire with a national title and a lot of years ahead of him and this guy is sitting up in his room at his mom's house in his underware making fun of Fulmer.

all you gator fans know what comes around goes around, right? well I guess you will not come to this site when urban is coaching in south bend and timmy is riding the pine for some NFL team, so win with a little class please. UT was on top once too and college football runs in cycles. I don't know when florida will be down again but I will not spend my time on gator fan sites talking trash. for real man get a FRIGGIN life.

Why do you still denegrate CPF? You Fulmer bashers all got your wish and he is gone. It was time for CPF to leave but instead of trash talking maybe a bit of thanks to UT's best coach since General Neyland.

You lost respect for Phil? Did you ever have respect for him? I appreciate what he done here, as everybody should...no doubt he got complacent and let the program slip, which angers me, as it should everyone...why beat a dead horse so to speak? Lets just remember the good times and look forward to the return to prominence.

belayvol writes:

I like Johnny and Phil. heck i even like Bill Battle. They all won some games while wearing the orange. They all gave me some thrilling moments over the years. It was time for each to be replaced at the moment they were. But i do not have any ill will towards any of them. There is a certain poster we have around here who despises Peyton. Never anything good to say about him for losing to florida and Memphis. But man look at all the other thrills he gave us. Each one of these men bled orange for us during their time. Pretty much the same comparison in my opinion.

Timed_vol (Inactive) writes:

who the hell would bash Phil?? he really DID raise the bar over what Johnny had set. Say what you want, we pulled in great talent and sent a lot of players to the NFL undrer Phil. With a true playoff system, we would probably have contended for several NC's in his best years.

There is not much you can say about Phil's struggles with UF. Spurrier and Meyer simply took advantage of the huge talent pool in that state, not much you can do. Spurrier was on a helluva roll for a few years down their.

Now, we see Steve isn't quite 'the genius'. He has been aveage at best at So. Carolina. As for Meyer?? The jury is out, iMHO. He's gotten two NC's, largely due to the SEC's reputation (we where able to parley that into teams with losses, such as UF and LSU, into the NC games). HOWEVER, that again is with the Florida talent conneciton in full swing. What happens when he leaves UF?? He can't go back to, say, a Utah. He HAS to step up to a bigger name like Notre DAme, Ohio State, or Michigan. Suddenlty, the athletes change....

Well, any way, Phil did all right for us for quite a while. He simply failed to adjust fast enough to ALL the SEC schools trying to ramp ti up.
