Melvin Goins, a 5-foot-11 point guard from Mount San Jacinto, (Calif.) Junior College will visit Tennessee this weekend.
Goins was the Player of the Year in the Foothill Conference last season.
The Vols have already signed power forward Kenny Hall from Stone Mountain, Ga., and are actively seeking an impact player for point guard next season.
Goins played a season at Ball State and played in 30 games as a true freshman (2007-08). He averaged eight points, 2.3 assists and three steals for the Cardinals, making the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman team before transferring to junior college.
Goins averaged 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals to lead Christian Life Academy in Kingsville, Texas, to a 42-8 record his senior season of high school.
