Tennessee infielder Cody Hawn is out of the lineup indefinitely with a viral illness, UT assistant athletic trainer Jeff Wood said Tuesday.
Hawn has been one of Tennessee’s top producers at the plate. The South-Doyle High School and Walters State product is batting .301 with a team-leading 39 RBI and 11 home runs. He started all 26 games prior to Tuesday night’s game at ETSU.
“I feel terrible for Cody because he’s been playing extremely well for us,” UT head coach Todd Raleigh said. “Our biggest concern is making sure he’s healthy. We’ll certainly miss him in our lineup, but this also gives someone else an opportunity to step up and help this team.”
