CHATTANOOGA — One week after leaving the University of Tennessee football program, B.J. Coleman still is weighing his options before deciding where he will transfer.
The former McCallie School quarterback visited Chattanooga earlier this week and has been contacted by several other schools.
Although he would not predict a specific date, he said he hopes to make a decision in the near future.

Sounds like his options are stellar. maybe he should just go to school and get a degree.

Its a shame he let his ego get in the way. He had a chance to start he just didnt want to be patient. And by the way Tennessee will always be the real UT.

Tennessee was UT before Texas was a country.

You mean state. But yes UT was a University of Tennessee was a college before Texas was a state.

He's gone, don't care about him anymore. I wish him well, but I have no interest in what he does from here on out.

No visits to Bowling Green? With the compliments Clawson paid him, I figured he would be calling BJ everyday to come up there.
AustinTX_Vol writes:
Before Texas was a state I think you meant, but you should try living in the heart of Longhorn country. I fight this battle on a near daily basis. All they ever come with is "when was your last National title?" Well 1998 actually. Whats funny is most of the ones who play that card weren't even a thought in their parent's eyes last time Texas won a NC prior to 2005.
Wii60 writes:
No, I definitely mean country.
shoalcreekvol writes:
I wish BJ well, but I have a feeling this will be an episode that he'll look back on and regret. He has done serious damage to the reputation of his character - by exhibiting jealousy, quitting in the face of (a very small) adversity, and then going public with ranting, childish comments. He has shown a lot of bitterness and zero appreciation for the people who gave him a free top-notch education and an opportunity to learn at a great program.
He really needs someone in his life to bring his substantial ego back into check and give him better advice from a PR perspective. Someone should've been there trying to get that phone away from him and protect him from ruining his reputation with the public.
It makes things worse that he seems to think he is a better evaluator of talent than either the Fulmer staff or the Kiffin staff. Both staffs liked him and felt like he was developing along well but he thinks he is "the best" right now and should be granted the keys to the kingdom. It really is a shame.
Hopefully he'll choose to go to a low-profile FCS or D2 school to get a year of playing experience and straighten his head out. It would be good for him to realize how far of a fall it is from UTK to UTC. Maybe after a year of lower-tier ball he could come back to an FBS team with a level head.
(I also posted this on the CF-P article)

And no, I don't mean to diminish the accomplishments of Texas, they are clearly the dominant program in a very strong football state. I have a lot of respect for their tradition, its just that we were UT first by a long shot.
AustinTX_Vol writes:
Ok, ok, you meant country. I'll never question you again professor. That wasn't exactly the point I was trying to make, but excuse the hell out of me for wrongly correcting you.
AustinTX_Vol writes:
Who the hell's side you think I'm on here? I know Tennessee was the first UT by a long shot. Maybe you should read my name a little more clearly. You seem to think I'm backing the Texas side here.
andy112382#209793 writes:
Yea, I still don't see how that works for his case...so, what exactly is he saying he did?
Did anywhere say if he said by to his team, or did he just tuck his tail and jet back home?
NeylandWest writes:
Perhaps someone should educate HireSanders and all the other Texans that seem to lurk on our site why we're called the Volunteers, too.
UTandETSUfan writes:
Mexican War, Tennessee had a quota of 3,000 troops. 30,000 applied before they stopped taking any more names. Highest percentage of any state (next closest if I remember correctly was Kentucky, who filled their quota 5 times, still no where near the 10 times Tennessee did)
DennisVols writes:
What will hurt BJ the most is that he went public in the newspaper first. Players get a reputation of causing trouble and being a distraction to the team doing things like that along with the tag of quitter.
All the talent in the world won’t erase the perception that you are not a “team player”
AustinTX_Vol writes:
Perhaps you should read my name fully. Yes I now live in Austin, TX, but what follows that. Vol!! I'm taking up for Tennessee but all you illiterate ones keep piling on me like I'm bashing Tennessee. I know what a Volunteer is too by the way. I guess since I now live in Texas you want me to hand over my Tennessee fanhhod too?
NeylandWest writes:
Ummm...dude...go back up and read. I'm not bashing you. In the past, HireSanders and several other so-called TX fans have posted on here.
I don't feel that I, or anyone else out here, was referring to you as one of them.
AustinTX_Vol writes:
Well, I am the only one here now with TX in my name, so I just figured you're lumping me in there with all the rest. I'm trying to take up for the Vols and some act like I'm fighting for the Longhorns. Not saying it's you, but some people need to read my post and not just see TX and fly off the handle.

Weighing his options? I thought it was basically a done deal that he was going to Chattanooga.

Actually, Texas was the Republic of Texas right after the war with Mexico.

His options:
1)UT Chattanooga football
2)No football at all
I'm guessing you're right-- he'll be a Moc. I wish only the best of luck to that quitter.
braddawson writes:
Why is our site still reporting on this terd. Most people I have met from Chattanooga (if you are a decent human that lives there then this isn't directed at you and you will know the people I am talking about) are like this kid and can really never leave the place as it is a sink hole for smug people who like to smell their own farts (just look at TO). They think Chattanooga is so much better and the people there are so much better and their private schools are so awesome. Screw you BJ for you are a whiny quitting private school tool, never set foot in Knoxville again unless the Vols are playing the Mocs with you at the helm.

I used to think HireSanders was a Kentucky fan at one point. (He did sound like one on the UT baseball article on GVX today.) However, it really seems like he is the type of person who couldn't get into UTK, and then was also rejected by Pellissippi State, too.

I dunno shoalcreek. I guess I can understand he'd rather play somewhere than carry a clipboard, and realistically, he wasn't going to be able to hold the starting job after 2009,if Kiffin, Orgeron et al have a full year of recruiting to land a top notch qb. I offer his one college start against lowly Vanderbilt, and his very subpar effort there. I wish him well and if he was such a stud, he'd be looking to transfer to Michigan instead of Chattanooga.

Good riddance. He may have had a somewhat better skills, but if he can't take criticism and adversity then fine leave. We'll be better off in the long run. Loser.

All of you guys who are bashing Coleman must have been supporting Crompton for the last year. If Cutcliffe were still the OC, he would be developing BJ as a premier quarterback just as he did Peyton and Eli. If anyone ever read the text messages that Cutcliffe sent to CPF after watching BJ lead McCallie to that state championship and play in the all-star game the following summer in Florida, no one would be doubting his ability here. Cutcliffe's bolting to Duke was not what BJ expected when he signed with THE university where he has always dreamed about playing. He is a fine upstanding young man who doesn't deserve the bashing he is receiving on this site. And yes, I am a Chattanoogan who happens to have a graduate degree from UTC of which I am most proud. Chattanooga is one of most progressive mid-sized cities in the country.

I understand your confusion. Fact is, I don't think HE knows what he is. At least half the time he uses "WE" in his posts while referring to the Vols, yet every one of his posts is anti-Vol!
I've got it! He is totally alienated from himself! He doesn't merely talk to himself, he argues with himself, gets mad when he loses, and then punches himself out! Don't we wish!

Not disrespecting BJ Coleman, but if he was as good as he thinks, several leitamate D1 schools would be calling with QB options..howver it will not be the SEC, Big Ten or Pac Ten, Good luck at wherever he lands...I still believe Nick Stephens is a very viable option over one hopper Crompton...which Kiffin will have seen a enough and the change at QB will happen on or before the Ohio University game in 2009--oh yes this is the same Ohio University that almost beat Ohio State in 2008 remember the names ( Boo Jackson and Theo Scott they are legit QB's that will cause problems for UT)...At the end of the day if Stephens does not QB to be able to stretch the field Florida maybe painful with #8 under ctr... Go Vols

B J should just go back to k-town and tell coach K that he is sorry and wants to come back. It would solve a lot of his problems.

BJ is your hometown kid. Thus, you will take up for him. Ultimately, he did not have what it takes to make it at U.T., even in a down time.
volhallathunder writes:
Most were pulling for Coleman until he quit and threw his former teammates and coaches under the bus while doing it.
