Pearl makes it official: He's engaged

SEVIERVILLE — UT men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl stole the show during the first of three Big Orange Caravan stops Monday with a surprise announcement.

Ending his comments during a breakfast with UT alumni at River Plantation RV Center, Pearl said he is committed to being the men’s basketball coach at Tennessee for a long time. Then Pearl revealed another commitment when he introduced the crowd to his new fiancee, Brandy Miller, a native of Sevierville who attended the breakfast with Pearl.

“If you think I’m leaving that for Memphis, you’re crazy,” said Pearl, whose name was linked to the school’s opening after John Calipari left to become the coach at Kentucky.

Pearl said he proposed last week, although the couple has yet to set a date for their wedding.

“It all revolves around recruiting and scheduling, but I’m very blessed and very fortunate,” Pearl said.
