Chizik has no contract after 5 months as coach

AUBURN, Ala. — Gene Chizik is working under a letter of agreement more than five months after he was hired to be Auburn’s head football coach.

Auburn officials say they expect a formal agreement to be finalized soon.

The university released a copy of Chizik’s two-page letter of agreement Monday in response to open-records requests from the Press-Register in Mobile and other media outlets.

The agreement states that Cizik will make $1.9 million a year for five years plus unspecified performance bonuses. Former head coach Tommy Tuberville was scheduled to make at least $3 million this year.

I guess that is a safe as any way possible to hire a guy with a record like he had at Iowa St, just don't give the man a contract! No buyout worries there I guess.

They went to the airport to boo his arrival. Now, he still doesn't have a contract. Seems like a school and their fans would treat people a little better.

This sounds like another Gillespie ordeal to me, except Chizik isn't as big of a douch.e. I don't understand why you can't just work these things out. It's not like Chizik has done anything of any significance to warrant a holdout. Sounds fishy to me.

It is a circus down there and the ring leader is Bobby Lowder. He runs the show and this does not surprise me at all. This will turn out to be the worst move ever made by Auburn. I love it though for obvious reasons. They are desperate down there and we have only won 1 out of the last seven. God they crack me up.

Didn't he learn anything from Billy Gillespie?

I guess he'd better not pull a Mike Price. First, the Bammers would never let Auburn hear the end of it. Second, he'd get not one red cent from the Plainsmanwareagletigers.

Now that I say that, I wonder if Kiffin signed his contract? I suppose at this point, very little would surprise me.
