Suspended Florida forward Chaney tranfers to Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Suspended Florida backup forward Allan Chaney has transferred to Virginia Tech.

Hokies coach Seth Greenberg announced Chaney’s transfer Tuesday. Chaney must sit out the 2009-10 season under NCAA transfer rules and would have three years of eligibility remaining.

In March, Florida coach Billy Donovan suspended Chaney for the remainder of the season for undisclosed reasons. The freshman from Baltimore averaged 3.0 points and 2.1 rebounds in 23 games, including two starts.

Chaney missed time because of a stress fracture in his left heel. He tried to return in February, but strained his left arch and was going to sit out the rest of the season.
