Henry in federal custody after violating conditions of bond

TAMPA, Fla. — Former NFL running back Travis Henry is in federal custody after violating conditions of his bond.

Tampa U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Pizzo ruled Tuesday that the former University of Tennessee star violated bond conditions set by a Montana judge when he consumed alcohol. He was arrested by U.S. Marshals and Polk County sheriff’s deputies in Auburndale.

Henry pleaded guilty in April to trafficking cocaine in a federal drug case. He has not yet been sentenced.

A telephone message left with Henry’s attorney was not immediately returned.

Henry was arrested in Denver last October after authorities broke apart a drug ring that trafficked cocaine between Colorado and Montana. He was described as the “money guy” who helped finance the operation.

GAWDAMN ! Does it ever stop with Travis? Maybe some jail time will do him good. At least make sure he doesn't get any conjugal visits. Sorry to rail, folks, but damn, it sucks to see a former Vol great just make a joke of himself and his accomplishments.

KNS, 3 Big recruits have all expressed interest in Tennessee this week. All are likely coming to camp. You probably know by watching Rivals. However, we don't really care about that. If anyone else that drove through Knoxville gets arrested please let us know. Enquiring minds want to know. Wow, what a great job this week with the sports reporting!

This is one of the most truthful posts I have ever read on this site. KNS is the most undermining hometown newspaper I have ever seen. Can't wait for Adams' Tebow-praising articles in a couple of months. Thanks, Voluvr and I agree 100%.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but... Good point there, Gator Fan.

I may still have my copy of "I fought the law and the law won".

Forward to Montana.

Babies be getting no new shoes this year.

It really makes you wonder what this world is coming to.

I'm of Irish descent on my mother's side. It used to be that families consisted of Father's wives and Kids. I know in my case these people were not perfect but they had a goal in mind a better life for their kids. They fought to get out of circumstances like wretched housing, dead end jobs, and daily hopelessness. They wanted to rise above in an ethical and moral way.

Today we have an element in society that instead of viewing ascent into a decent life seems to see the ideal as being a gangster. The goal is to have as many women as you want, indulge in all the drug and alcohol abuse your can stand, and be the big man in the old neighborhood even if it includes drug deals, shootings, and murder.

Travis Henry was given a rare gift and apparently understood nothing of how to use it.

His character consists of parenting children out of wedlock and probably because he very poorly managed the fortune he made as a football player, dealing in drugs for a fast buck.

And before the University is blamed it might do well to remember that a center has been established at the University through the donation of a prominent alumni to help students deal with the vagaries of growing up in poor environments.

I greatly enjoyed watching Travis Henry play football at Tennessee. He was given a great gift and earned a diploma from our University. He made a ton of money as a pro football player. I am totally disappointed in how he has managed his opportunity.

As Zig Ziglar has said "It takes ability to get to the top but character to keep you there."

From my perspective the character is lacking.
