KNOXVILLE - The University of Tennessee Athletic Department will return $186,000 in contributions it received from accused fraud artist Dennis Bolze.
Bolze's court-appointed bankruptcy trustee, G. Wayne Walls, announced the development today at a meeting of Bolze's creditors.
Walls said UT's decision was voluntary and he has been told a check is on the way.
Bolze and his wife, Kathleen, were big supporters of UT athletics.
Bolze, 60, was forced into bankruptcy in absentia after he fled Gatlinburg when confronted by a private financial investigator. He was arrested later in Pennsylvania, on a federal warrant charging him with fraud and money laundering. He is being held without bond, and additional charges are anticipated.
A few of Bolze's personal items, including two antique cars, have been sold at auction, but the 16,000 square foot house is the only major asset known to be linked to him.
It cannot be determined how the house will be disposed of until a series of complex legal issues are resolved. Those issues include the fact that the house is not legally held in Bolze's name, but in the name of one of the two Nevada shell corporations that authorities say he created as part of his Ponzi scheme.
The value of the house is also disputed, with three different appraisals ranging from about $4 million to $10.2 million.

But seriously, I am trying to be constructive here. There is a couple of Florida posters (not all of them) that come on this site that quite frankly don’t even act like adults. You act at like pimpled faced, pasty skinned teen aged boys who have never had a date, probably never played a day of competitive sports, who sit in there parents basements and between playing video games and watching re-runs of Star Wars post smack that resembles the behavior of a kid who got their lunch money taken and was last to get picked in gym class. You and your other childish friends go to the video store to rent some more games, and with a Big Gulp in one hand, you high five your buddy (the one with the Guitar Hero t-shirt) and boost of your latest post! Seriously, most of what you post is not even adult like.
Seriously, grow up. Act like you have been there before. If you most come on a competitors board and post, do it like an adult. Talk some trash with some good natured ribbing, but act like an adult.
