Climer: SEC offseason produces as much fun as in the fall

You know you're making waves in the SEC when a rule is named for you.

In 2004, the SEC passed the so-called Fulmer Rule, which established guidelines for turning over information about possible rules violations. The reason: Then-Tennessee Coach Phillip Fulmer had gotten carried away with his Columbo act.

Two years ago, the SEC developed the Saban Rule, which banned head coaches from off-campus recruiting during the spring evaluation period. It was named for Alabama Coach Nick Saban, whose hands-on recruiting style was making waves.

Now, get ready for the Kiffin Rule.

While I haven't agreed with a lot of the trash talking LK has done, it has been entertaining. I agree with Climer, it is big boy rules. If they want to talk, let them talk. They can take out any hurt feelings on the football field.

I believe that Spurrier started this all by questioning Kiffin and his test taking time frame. Only the comish did nothing to censor the old fart in south cariolina

Agree that Spurrier is the king of running down other programs. They should call it the Spurrier rule. And Urban spoke evil about Auburn and their limos.

Would rather play a good game than talk a good game-maybe that is just old school. If any one runs up the score on us I bet within the first five posts some one will mention class. Got to admit never have seen so much interest in a coaching hire. Hope he does well. Go Vols

I served in the N'Guard in the 80's, my dad WWII, uncle Korean, brother 'NAM two tours, the biggest was my dad's brother died on D-day, 300yards up the beach from my dad.

God bless your uncle who gave his all and may God bless all who served.

So Slive is repealing the first amendment. I mean there are already remedies on the books for addressing wrongful speech or the printed word. Interesting. This is a bad idea and I hope Slive will use his better judgment. I think Kiffin is a young guy and has learned his lesson.

Climer's right on target. Let the boys tangle. It keeps the off season interesting.

Do you really think LK want go over the edge again. Wait until the season starts an the heat gets applied no telling what will happen. LK is an unknown-we do not know how players will respond to his coaching nor do we know how well he will handle the media. To me he seems a little uneasy when talking to the press. Only time will tell how this shakes out. Go Vols

My father served in the Navy, brother in the Army, my son is in the Army and is now in Iraq, and I put in 20 plus in the Army my self.

Thanks to all that served and the ones that supported them.

Totally agree with you longvol. In a response to one of my letters to the editor in chief at KNS (complaining about Adams) I was basically told that the reporters' main job was to generate traffic/hits on their web based articles. What better way to do it than pose as lowlife trolls?

I agree with your post. I strongly believe that it is none other than KNS, and perhaps more specifically that Adams kid that is continually stirring the pot. He must realize that his job is in jeopardy and is trying to create an attitude of "look...I'm just too important to fire."

EXACTAMUNDO!!! I think a lot of us believe that Slive's Urbie's li'l butt boy. Those 2 NC's have to equal more bonuses for Slime, er, Slive, and he's just throwing the rocks at Kiffin that Urbie's been handing to him. All this banter's been going on in the SEC for decades but Urbie's decided he owns the conference, so he's continually crying to Mikey. "Hey, Mikey, Lane's talking mean about me again. Go get him! Let's face it. All these secondary violations have led to a respectable recruiting cass for '09 and will easily be at least top 5 in '10. Let 'em cry.
