ST. LOUIS — The Kansas City Royals sent pitcher Luke Hochevar down to Triple-A Sunday and put pitcher Robinson Tejada and infielder Mike Aviles on the 15-day disabled list.
Hochevar, a former Tennessee standout and the overall No. 1 pick of the 2006 draft, allowed four runs in 6 1-3 innings in Saturday’s 5-0 loss to St. Louis. The right-hander is 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA in three starts.
Tejada, 0-0 with a 2.65 ERA in 12 relief appearances, has tendinitis in his right rotator cuff and was placed on the DL retroactive to Thursday. Aviles, batting .183 with one homer and eight RBIs, has a strained right forearm.
The Royals purchased the contract of righty Roman Colon from Triple-A Omaha, recalled infielder Tug Hulett from Omaha and activated lefty John Bale (thyroid surgery) from the DL.

Fred Carrol's prized pitching student is struggling.
UT's pitchers couldn't throw the ball over the plate this year without getting it jacked out of the park.
Leads me to believe that maybe Coach Carrol isn't the superstar pitching coach he's made out to be.
Sorry for you Luke, guess that's what you get for signing with Scot Boras and being such a prima donna the first time you were drafted.
Hope you saved some of that signing bonus...enjoy the minors, punk.
