Three Tennessee men's track and field team athletes earned SEC postseason honors, the league office announced Monday.
Sophomore Joseph Berry, who won his third-consecutive conference title in the pole vault, was named first-team All-SEC.
Sophomore decathlete Michael Ayers and freshman 800-meter specialist Joseph Franklin earned second-team honors. Ayers was the runner-up in the SEC decathlon with 7,366 points, and Franklin finished second in the 800 with a lifetime-best clocking of 1:48.93. By virtue of being the highest finishing freshman in the 800, Franklin was also named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.
Berry cleared 17 feet, 7.75 inches to edge South Carolina’s Elliot Haynie in the pole vault and become the sixth UT vaulter to win at least three conference crowns.
Berry, Ayers and Franklin are among 15 Tennessee athletes who have qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional on May 29-30.
