DESTIN, Fla. — Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin met with members of the media as the SEC opened a four-day run of its annual spring business meetings today at the Sandestin Beach Hilton.
On Florida coach Urban Meyer:
"I asked for adjoining rooms with Urban (at hotel)," Kiffin said after being asked repeated questions about his earlier comments in which the first-year UT coach accused him of cheating.
On strength coach Mark Smith:
"We have not parted ways," Kiffin said. "There has been nothing done. He is still on our staff. I evaluate him like I would anyone else on our staff."
More details later online and in Wednesday's News Sentinel.

What's with JA? He's actually working during his annual Destin vacation. How many interns did KNS layoff during this down economy?

It's great to have a coach with some stones! If Urbie doesn't want adjoining rooms, he's a homo! He DOES fear the Kiff! Do y'all think Urbie will get Mike Slime to make excuses for him?
DrJCrown_theMagicMan writes:
Get em Lane.
Meyer may cry about that remark too.
Listen we all know Meyer and the gay-tors are a bunch of Pansies and who ever is calling them the last part of my name on here that is posting as the MagicMan is too.
Get your own name but you are prob a fan of Kentucky or Fla and cannot come up with your own name and besides Bubba Butcheese is prob your real name!

the new ball coach, is trying really hard to get under the skin of urban meyer! idk, if this is a smart thing to do, but it damn sure is funny! meyer will be charged up and ready to go come september! we shall see if kiffin will be prepared! someone please spill some juice on the whole m. smith saga!
DrJCrown_theMagicMan writes:
Philipe would never make anothe rcoach mad. He would take insults and look where that got us.How many coaches were in Phil's head with the mindgames that caused us to loose games?
Witchdoctor, you want to handle this question?
TD_4_UT writes:
This may be Kiffin's way of getting to speak with Meyer on the QT. I'd say Meyer does'nt answer the phone if it's Kiffin. No matter what the situation Kiffin shows his personality, I think it's great! GO VOLS!!!!!!
PaulTheVol writes:
For the Gay-tor fans of this website here is something from SI.com:
Former Florida DB Anthone Lott has been charged with defrauding Fred Weary, his ball-hawking mate on Florida's 1996 national championship team, of about $185,000 on a construction project in Gainesville.
Hey, if you can't cheat a teammate, who can you cheat?
cobbwebb writes:
drj- i actually felt sorry, and embarrased for coach fulmer at times! but he always took the high road and i respect him for that! this is the new SEC, and you better be able to "play the game", whether or not it is recruiting , xs and os, or in the media!
DrJCrown_theMagicMan writes:
Actually the 2006 game was 21-20 and Tenn had the ball.Had Ainge got us even a field goal we win that one.
Tenn has more SEC Champs and NC's as well. Also The Big Orange is top 5 in all time wins and Bowl appearances so yeah the Johnny come lately Gay-tors are pansies while Tenn has all the tradition.
By the way Tenn dominated the Florida series up until recent...The series is now tied 19-19. Urban Meyer is a pansie also by the way and lookd like a pelican!

Why would KNS lay off unpaid interns?
TD_4_UT writes:
No matter what happens at the meetings you Know Kiffin will make some kind of news to get UT in the media pipeline. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Please do not respond to the trolls!!!!
DrJCrown_theMagicMan writes:
Yeah the man took the high road but a few times he should have gave his team a message...ITS time to fight boys they have disrespected us and they don't respect me or you. That right there would have gave us a few more wins.I saw a few games where Fulmer gave up too and he may have been concerned for his players. He was a players coach and cared for them too much to get the job done perhaps!
TnScooby writes:
Ok folks, stick to topic...don't let the trolls garner attention...what is the latest on Smith and has anyone heard any details on interviews or visits by potential new S&C coach?
TnScooby writes:
btw, ty p4t...thought we had that settled about responding to lopers
TD_4_UT writes:
This seems to be in neutral right now Smith does'nt want to quit and lose his salary, Kiffin does'nt want to fire him and pay it.
QB_10 (Inactive) writes:
Actually with Crompton at the Helm, make it 70-10....
TnScooby writes:
Thx TD, that was the latest I heard also...maybe a resolution by the end of the week. Still think it is bizarre that in this day and age suddenly a position as obscure(in the past) as Strength and Conditioning coach warrants headlines as lead story on ESPN...but as a Vol fan love the fact even S&C gets that much attention...Thanks CLK!
Go Vols!!

that same troll baits fans like you on a daily basis. Wrong as she is, she's got your number. DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!
TD_4_UT writes:
I don't know why but I feel ESPN has had a chip on their shoulder as far as UT ever since we let Johnny Majors go. With Kiffin trying to excite the fan base it puts everything UT does in the spotlight good or bad, small and large.
kman29 writes:
Tenn. dominated the Florida series until recently huh?
Florida's record vs. UT
2000's- 6-3
1990's- 7-3
1980's- 2-0
1970's- 2-2
1960's- 1-0
1950's- 1-3
So basically from 1950-2008 Florida is 19-11 vs. UT.
Tennessee has not had a winning decade against Florida since the 1950's. So I don't know what your idea of "recent" is, but if you have to go back half a century to find the last winning decade, that isnt quite recent buddy.
sameolvolalum writes:
Does anybody know what's the problem with Smith? Is it 'roids? Attitude? Is he the mystery tweeter? Is he breaking any rules? 'Anybody have a clue?

you are so right...DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!!!!

Lane Kiffin is one cool cat.
RTR writes:
I completely agree. Now on one hand I personally do not feel like Kiffin "talking" is that big of a deal. On the other hand I am very happy that CNS takes the high road on things like this. That does not mean that you are getting pushed around or being embarrassed. This is the SEC and you do your "real talking" on the field.
TD_4_UT writes:
We may never know. It could be personalities clashing. Smith might have been asked to be big brother to some of the player's to keep them out of trouble(Vinson). He may have felt that was'nt part of his job. It could be anything at this point.
DrJCrown_theMagicMan writes:
Write this down!
The worst beating in the series is OWNED by Tenn.
The score was...
UT - 45
UF - 3
1992
RTR writes:
No disrespect but isn't UT having drops in the renewal of season tickets. To me that says that not all UT fans are not very excited or happy with the way Kiffin is running the program.

Good god man. I guess I am an "interloper" as well but you just act like a broken record everytime. I do not come on here often, but when I do you are always typing the same ol' things. Everyone knows you have Tebow, and everyone knows you won the NC last year. Give it a rest or start talking about real football stuff.
TnScooby writes:
IMO, this will ultimately be a case of self-inflated importance on Smith's part as to what his position entitled him to do in the athletic department...I have a feeling he got a little carried away when it came to controlling the weight room, training facilities and scheduling. Only speculation on my part...guess time will tell

People like this know nothing about football. They're only good at one thing and that's pi$$ing people off. I guess you have to get used to it and cruise on by their tripe. I've been around children before and when you ignore them, they get bored and go away. The trouble is, no one seems to have the will power to ignore them.
RTR writes:
Honestly those people probably enjoy it just as much as he does. When you have a public thread, these things will happen. Our public boards are over run with barner's.
Anyways, what do you think Slive will say this week in Destin?
Vol_atile writes:
I think it will be the "can't we all just get along speech". It shouldn't be much more than that.
DANVOL1 writes:
I heard from a source in Nashville, that Smith and Coach O didn't agree on alot of things. They also told me that Smith kicked out some former players and that didn't go over well. But the big thing is Smith and Coach O. Coach O is the second man in charge, he is the only one who can offer a kid on the spot a scholly. He has more power than anyone except Lane. Seems that he and Smith don't get along, we'll see who wins lol!
murrayvol writes:

I'd like to see that match-up. They're both scary!

My guess is: The coach won't be using the room for much more then to sleep. He is there for football! I'm sure the coaches aren't making near as much of all this as the news media and us.

IMO ESPN got really down on UT when the host of College Football Gameday, Chris Fowler, had his run in with our fans. He really showed his rear in calling UT fans Tennessee trailer trash. The fans responded splendidly and called him what he is. Your choice here. They refused to cover us for a while and when they did they set up a long way from where the students were. Really sad that little episode happened, but UT gets nothing but phooey from them now. Low blows at every turn. However, our man Kiffin would do well in a back and forth with the likes of Corso,Herbstreet, and Fowler. I have no doubt.

AINT gonna HAPPEN G.A.Y.T.O.R BOY..........
and I've got a $1000. to back it up, do you blow HARD ??? !!!!!!
p.s.
Don't look for us to just quit like we did in the past either,we now have a COACH that WILL play our best, prepare like we are the best, and have a WINNING ATTITUDE when we take the field...
Ole Monte WILL have a defense that will confuse and have T.E.B.L.O.W running for his life,so Sept 19th,will be a day which will live in infamy... deal with it you are running scared or you WOULD NOT BE HERE WORRIED ABOUT A 5-7 TEAM !!!!
Looks like ole CPF had his way with you all, losing and not caring, well, how THINGS HAVE CHANGED !!!!!
TIME TO FEAR THE KIFFIN !!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahh, I can't wait until September.

Greg McElroy is going to be the starter. He is a very smart kid and knows the offense. I expect him to do very well. He has a nice deep ball. Just have to get good play out of our LT, whoever it may be.
