UT adds more prospects to offer list

With Tennessee off the recruiting trail for the spring evaluation period, add five more prospects to the offer list:

Dillon Bonnell: The offensive tackle from Highlands Ranch, Colo., has over 15 scholarship offers. The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder recently visited Nebraska.

Trey Millard: UT is one of three SEC schools battling for the 6-2, 245-pound tight end from Rock Bridge High in Columbia, Mo. Arkansas and South Carolina are in the hunt, along with several regional schools.

Kyle Prater: The 6-5, 205-pound receiver from Proviso West High in Hillside, Ill., is one of the best prospects in the nation with over 30 scholarship offers. However, the Vols have some ground to make up.

Kenny Shaw: The 6-foot, 160-pound receiver from Dr. Phillips High in Orlando recently told a Web site covering Alabama that Florida State leads for his services, followed by Florida, Alabama and UT — in that order.

Prince Shembo: The 6-2, 225-pound defensive end from Ardrey Kell High in Charlotte, N.C., has nearly a dozen offers and is one of the quickest rising prospects during the spring evaluation period.

No ... actually this one ... you know, the one from 2008 that ranks UTK #70 and doesn't rank Memphis in the top 100. Probably shouldn't get your info from memphis.edu ... they might be a little biased.

DESTIN, Fla. -- Alabama officials expect to hear from the NCAA on possible penalties resulting from the textbook scandal as early as next week.

With the SEC spring meetings going on this week, it's doubtful that the NCAA would hand down a decision this week.

What most everybody agrees on is that there will be some type of probation for the Crimson Tide, probably a two-year term. What that means is that they can't have anything happen NCAA-related during that period or there could be serious consequences.

It's still unclear what kind of penalties Alabama will receive. Initially, the feeling was that there wouldn't be any scholarship losses. But as the process has dragged on, there have been increasing rumblings that the Tide could lose a scholarship or two for each of the next two years.

Anyone remember Sullivan South quarterback Curt Phillips of 2007.I watched him in high school and he is one i thought UT let get away.He ended up at Wisconsin and is second on the depth chart as aredshirt freshman behind a senior. Some think he'll be the starter after fall camp. I for one would've liked to have seen him in orange.

I do remember Curt Phillips -- my daughter graduated from SSHS and I still try to keep up with their football program. I agree that the Vols let him get away. He was really fun to watch -- kinda reminds me of another QB right now, who no matter what, always seems to make something good happen! Would have loved to see Mr. Phillips wearing Orange!

Don't forget the NCAA is converging on the Gadsden Kia dealership and making their accountants answer some questions about Mr. Kirpatrick and the Gadsden connection!!!

yes i went to school with Curt. Im only 18 but graduated from Sullivan South. I had tha honor of playin with him for two years. As good as he was, he never let it go to his head. He told us he would have went to UT if they would have offered him qb instead of safety

I love it when Tiger fans come on here and talk bullshizzle about final fours. Hey man, how many of those final fours were followed up with recruiting sanctions? Remember Dana Kirk? Remember Penny Hardaway? Getting to the Final Four by paying players like Keith Bedford and accepting fraudulent SAT scores for guys like Rose who couldn't have qualified otherwise is just not something to be proud of.

Go and talk that smack on some board where they appreciate success through cheating. Like maybe a Bama board or someplace like that. Maybe Miss State.
