A Kentucky men's basketball game at Sommet Center is one step closer to becoming reality.
Nashville city leaders have sent a formal letter of interest to Kentucky men's basketball Coach John Calipari about hosting a game between the Wildcats and an undetermined powerhouse opponent in Music City.
Calipari pitched the idea two weeks ago in an interview with George Plaster on Nashville sports radio station 104.5-FM.
"We have a lot of Kentucky fans in Nashville," Calipari said in the interview.

I hate the idea of Kentucky playing a game in the state of TN as a nuetral team rather than an away opponent. But Nashville is big city. Not everyone in Nashville is a UT or Vandy fan, huge alumni base from every SEC school in Nashville, its kinda like Atlanta hosting a Bama/Clemson game. It is a good move by the city and school.

Calipari is already going to have his pick of the top talent around the nation. What this does, is hurt recruiting for UT in the state of Tennessee. Can you imagine being a young man that is being recruited and see all the Kentucky fans swarm to Nashville?
I wish there was a way UT and Vandy could step in and stop this but I am sure there is no way. This is a brilliant move on Kentucky's part.

How about you hop off of my jock and jump off the UNC bandwagon. Im a Boston College fan, so you suck.

I agree completely. Just think about how much talent we steal out of Atlanta that UGA wishes they could have. But like I said earlier Nashville is a bigger city and is not centered around a particular school such as Knoxville, Athens, Tuscaloosa, ect... The only way Tennessee can stop it is to continue to host 1 or 2 games in Nashville each year to and draw attention to middle Tennessee's talent.

Calimari has enough trouble going on with the way he left Memphis. Nashville should be recruiting the Vols to play at the Sommet.

Can anyone see Birmingham,Alabama asking Tennessee to play there? Has Nashville completely lost it's mind? Don't they even support their own state university? Even if they support Vandy and hate UT this is still a really bad idea.
