KNOXVILLE — Based on what transpired on Saturday evening, we offer this rush to judgment:
Tennessee is back.
In black.
Outfitted in their finest Halloween attire — black jerseys with orange numbers, and orange pants — the Vols undressed 21st-ranked South Carolina 31-13.

Georgia's uniforms yesterday made them look like a high school team. Are they?
One correction, UT-UGA was 45-19, not 45-17.
Could it be that teams that expend too much time/effort/energy on uniform changes are focused on style instead of substance? It would seem to be the case for Georgia who are slipping further and further into irrelevance.

The defense was magnificent, but the offense still didn't do much except for Hardesty. Still improving, though, and that's a good sign.

The jerseys didn't win the game, COACHING DID !

I agree with you. I read the rumors of this like everyone else. I thought it was pretty cool of ol Ham to rush that moral booster. The boys deserved it! I wouldnt mind seeing those jerseys on all halloween home games either. Whats the harm in one more Vol Tradition to look forward to? Its not like it would happen every year Hamilton...think on it! I thought they looked great, I want one!
Great trick 'n' treat all the way around this year Vols!
Rock on ROCKY TOP!!!

Hamilton lied. People cried.

Yes 80% or so agree the VOLS looked cool on halloween, and the lift it gave the VOLS was apparent during the first 1/4, but something that concernsme is the VOLS went a little flat on offence after that untill a 3nd quarter TD. Next weed let's start off and not take the foot off the gas,but GO VOLS!

what concerns me is that you actually said 3nd quarter.....i can't even pronounce 3nd? lol...just playin with ya man

On to Memphus!
Wouldn't mind seeing NCAA return yardage record broken by E. Berry.

OK, I was in a hurry on my last post. Now I read it did sound funny, haha. But it did seem like the VOLS did slow down on offence after the first quarter.

Well, judging from the comments, there weren't all THAT many people crying, except for SC fans anyway. FWIW, consider this: many people around the country, including not a few Vol fans, thought the team might have an emotional letdown after the tough Bama loss. After all, we have seen it many times before. If the black jerseys gave the team an emotional boost in recovering after Bama, don't you think it might have been worth it even at the cost of offending your aesthetic sense and reverence for Vol tradition? I do.
johnlg00#206211 writes:
I'm not sure that was the case. For one thing, the SC defense was one of the better ones we have played. For another, it might have only helped them get back in the game if we threw a lot in the rain with a wet ball, or tried to run a bunch of reverses and other trick plays. They were leaving it laying all over the field; what was to say that it couldn't have happened to us at any time? Speaking only for myself, if you had told me before the season that we would beat SC by 18, I would have taken it without knowing, or asking for, ANY details!

The thing is Georgia's colors are red and black. I would have no problem or far less problems with Tennessee wearing black if our school colors were orange and black, but everyone knows that black isn't one of our colors.
I football player shouldn't need to wear a certain color uniform to motivate them to play a game.
If someone signs with LSU they should expect wear purple and gold. If they sign with Florida State then they should know they will wear garnet and gold, Alabama...crimson and white, etc.
RespectTradition writes:
If we need a color change to our uniforms to motivate our players or get them up, then there are deeper problems. It was a gimmick/publicity stunt/money maker. Our coaches do just fine motivating without such nonsense.
Go Vols!

I consider myself as a traditionalist yet I got rid of my atari 25+ years ago. I liked the black jerseys. It was Halloween; get over it. The same ppl complaining are the same ones who probably own black TN shirts, hats, wind pants, jackets, coats, etc.

I loved the black jerseys and i hope we continue to change up our uniform from time to time... U freakin traditionalists suck, if it were up to yall we'd still be wearing leather helmets.
