Vols get second JUCO commitment

Tennessee picked up its second junior college commitment of the weekend on Sunday when receiver Kenbrell Thompkins pledged to be a Vol.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder from El Camino Community College is considered one of the top junior college receivers in the country. Thompkins was considering scholarship offers from Florida, Alabama, Arizona and LSU among other schools.

UT also received a commitment from Ken Adams, a 6-5, 240-pounder from Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss., on Sunday. Adams told the News Sentinel he will play tight end at UT. He also was considering Auburn.

More details online and in Monday's News Sentinel as they become available.

LMAO at you DC...I remember you talkin trash that Florida don't lose commits....we didn't need Nuke or Teague anyway because we're 4 deep every position...blah blah blah. Your WR Corp. has shined like a lump of coal this season and your QB has simply looked more & more like a RB that attempts passes....just watching your teams games and pointing out the obvious....BOY OH BOY the Gator Nation is starting to feel nervous.....the power shift is merging....it is SO FUNNY!

The simple fact is you see that "WISHING" CLK and his staff can't coach up kids is one thing....but the reality of it is that this staff "CAN" coach up kids...now all of you making fun of him realize this....and whether you or any other Gator wants to admit it or not you are glad you don't have to play Tennessee right now.

After we're done beating you in recruiting for this year....we're going to slap you in KnoxVegas next season...book it!

We can't see you from here but we can smell your fear....of the KiFFiN!

I agree! Florida's WR are garbage this year! Tebow has no one to throw to and neither will Brantly. It must be hard as a Florida fans to except the fact that its all coming to an end...bless their little hearts! what a bunch of FA*S!!

KiFFiNOMiCS writes:

Florida wanted this kid bad....just so everyone knows they trully thought he would become their next Percy Harvin....he wanted to goto the same school as Matt Simms.

So guess what...Matt Simms IS A SILENT COMMIT right now. If he was not then Kenbrell Thompkins wouldn't of committed to Tennessee already. THIS KID IS A GAME BREAKER! This is such a great GREAT pick up for us!

nicksjuzunk#646117 writes:

Nuke missed practice. Kiffin said he would address it on Tuesday. Nuke's facebook status expresses his frustration at some unknown things. The general thought is that he is frustrated at not being able to contribute as much as he thought as a freshmen, although it could be something more serious.

Since it takes 6 wins to become bowl eligible and we currently have 4 wins, one more won't get us in ANY bowl. Nice math dumbazz.

If I could please have your attention. Mark down this day in history. The thumping of the gamecocks in the black jerseys on Holloween 2009 has resulted in the returning of UT to the major polls.

AP: 35th USA Today: 38th

Not yet in the top 25 but remember this day as the day the name TENNESSEE began a new era of being ranked and soon to be consistently in the top 10 year on year and to that I'd say book it but I hate that phrase so anyway I'm excited about looking forward to the climb up and passing Alabama, Florida and Georgia along the way.

Anyway, next week we break into the top 30 and maybe the top 25 depending of course on what happens to the others but I'm confident the top 25 is just a game or so away and once there I don't expect a CLK and CMK coached team to ever be out of the top 25 again...IMHO.

Anayway, going to the tigers game as my first of the Kiffen era and hope for a much better turnout that the one I happen to travel to in '96 (Ouch!)...Here's hopping for good weather and give'em heck Vols!

Diane, heres some advice. Just enjoy the winning. I'm enjoying our win over Spurrier and a top 25 team. Enjoy yours over GA...its fun. We know. Enjoy Tebow...he's great and he won't be around much longer....BUT do know(and you know you do) that UT is making strides. I'm not claiming we are "back" or will be for a year or two, but you know and can see that we are making headway and closing the gap. So Diane, enjoy the winning and Tebow and try not to worry too much about that 4-4 team with a rookie head coach slowly creeping up in the rear view...

Razzle writes:

Or how about Tennessee and Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl?

Diane, care to post a link? No? Okay, well look just admit it was a dirty play. It was. Happens all the time in football especially is pile situations. However, he got caught and should have some sort of discipline put on him. Not more than a game suspension...if that though. Shouldn't matter much. You guys should be able to handle whoever without him. But don't go making up stuff Diane...you might turn into Kiffin...and I know how much you'd hate that.

Fun fact! In 1991, Syracuse beat Spurrier's Gators, 38-21, in the Carrier Dome. In the 18 years since then, Florida hasn't scheduled a single opponent outside the state of Florida that it didn't have to. Darn those SEC road games! There's no place like home, huh Dorothy?

I thought Debose had been moved to full time blocker. Kind of the like the current UF wide receivers. Hope he enjoys blocking for the QB because that is where he will be spending the majority of the time. Other than that he we learn how to run spread routes which won't help at the next level the NFL.

Ken Adams didn't want to block at Florida that is why he turned Meyer down. He wanted to play in an NFL style offense that would help him at the next level.

JonathanMorris writes:

The only thing I worry about with this one is that when he finaly pulled the trigger on the Florida offer, they backed off to "research more". He looks to be a solid prospect and I hope he keeps his word unlike some but I worry if Florida comes back calling, he doesnt pull the ol switcher-roo on us.

Fact, Spikes behaved like a thug and should be suspended for at least a game if not the rest of the season. You cannot try to physically hurt an oppenent in the pile when he cannot defend himself.

I bet that you are creaming in your Tebow panties about 3-star QB signee Trey Burton!

But you're the same idiot that predicted Ohio, Georgia, and South Carolina victories.

I agree that Tebow will be a total washout in the NFL. While he can run over a 19 year old college linebacker every pro scout knows the virgin who jumps up and down after a 6 yard gain won't cut it in a man's league.

Oscar Meyer is a lying loser - Ute fans hate him - and the Ute blogs after his departure prove it.

This year Florida was supposed to one of the most dominate teams in college football history. But close calls have shown both their vulnerability and next year’s imminent collapse after the virgin's departure.
