Frazier has torn ACL, out for season

Tennessee linebacker Savion Frazier is out for the season after being diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on Monday, according to a source close to the situation.

There was some optimism following practice on Sunday that Frazier’s injury wasn’t as serious as it appeared when he went down against South Carolina on Saturday. That, however, is not the case.

Frazier was filling in for Nick Reveiz, who also suffered a torn ACL in the Ohio game.

Kind of off topic, but I saw a link on ESPN about the "Vols emerging WR problems". It was an "in" article and I would never give ESPN any of my hard earned money so can anyone fill me in on what that's all about.

This is the text from the worldwide leader.....

We told you earlier about once-prized recruit Nu'Keese Richardson reportedly being upset with his role on the team. If in fact he does choose to transfer, it looks like the Vols have already locked up his replacement. JUCO transfer WR Kenbrell Thompkins, who also had offers from Florida, LSU and Alabama, has signed with Tennessee.

Richardson, who has struggled to find a role in the Tennessee offense, was absent from practice on Sunday, and coach Lane Kiffin would only say, "We're dealing with an issue with Nu'Keese, and I'll have some more information on that for you guys next time -- on Tuesday."

Wes Rucker of the Chattanooga Times Free Press writes that Richardson has "made subtle references" all season to being homesick (he's from Pahokee, Fla., and originally committed to the Gators), and he reportedly was unhappy last week when RB Bryce Brown took some snaps as the Wildcat QB, which had been Richardson's role (he was a QB in high school).

Richardson, who cited immediate playing time as a reason he switched his commitment to the Vols, told Rucker recently that his homesickness had subsided, but sources say that in private Richardson is not so certain.

Reading between the lines, it sure sounds like Richardson is going to transfer. But we only have to wait until tomorrow to find out what more Kiffin has to say.

Too bad Chris Donald has underachieved in his career as I think MLB was his position. Is Jerod Askew going to redshirt? I haven't heard his name all year and I thought he was a MLB. Is he still on the team? We definitely need some help at this position. I guess Lathers will be the guy by default to fill in. 2 ACL injuries from the same position is tough.

Check out today's Chattanooga News Free Press....apparently Nu Keese wasn't at practice last night and Kiffin says there is an "issue" with him. Story mentioned that he has been homesick

Pville, thanks for the insight (knew this back at beginning of year). Here's a new tidbit for u...players can be moved back to original position they moved from, i.e. Lb to de, wr to cb, etc., if extreme cases call for u to do so. 2 mlbs lost to acl injuries is pretty extreme wouldn't u say?? I don't think nick stephens will be playing mlb for us anytime soon. Lb corp is very very thin. Think about it before u post another asinine comment.

ethanfrome writes:

I have a question for anyone that can offer some insight.

While I watched the game, I felt like the ESPN cameras and mics were much more ,"intrusive" than any football coverage I had seen before. First, the camera floats directly over the player, who is normally blocked by medical staffers. Second, the mic clearly broadcasted him speaking to the staff. "It's my knee, my knee, my knee."

Is this just the first time I have noticed, or did all of that ESPN money lead to this?

Need_2_Know writes:

Thanks, Savion, for giving your all for the team. Hate that you got dinged, and hope (both for your sake and for UT's) that you get healed, rehabbed, and ready to go for next season (if you still have your heart in it). Whatever you choose to do, you are one of us!

In re: NR and his absence from practice (and reported thoughts of transferring)..Nu'keese Richardson looks to have promise as a receiver at UT, and has contributed to the overall team progress to this point. However, if the young man is having second thoughts about where his future lies, he'd best get those sorted out so that he can move forward in a proficient and expedient manner. If in fact he does wish to transfer, how about all of us showing a little class and saying thanks for your contributions, Nuke, and good luck in the future. We need to concentrate on what's best for us and the Big Orange, and Nuke needs to do the same.

I'm just sayin' . . .
