Methinks we'd best worry about J Snead and Co afore booking for beautiful Shreeveport. Take a lot of can's to get down there.

Bama fans can tell you about that or La Monroe.

Well, it's certainly not the Citrus Bowl, considering that's not even the name anymore (that would now be the Capital One Bowl...Who makes up these polls?
Go Vols!

I am just glad we are talking about going to a bowl. Think about how far this team has come from this time last year. This time next year we will be talking about a BCS bowl. GUARANTEED!!!

Don't you think you're getting a little bit ahead of yourselves. We aren't even bowl eligible. Give this poll a rest until next week - assuming we beat the Rebs.

You guys at the paper continue to stir the "overconfidence pot" with these stupid comments and polls. I believe this Tennessee team is good enough to beat the remaining 3 opponents. But too much overconfidence and any of the remaining 3 teams could beat us, too. Let's cool off a little and watch the next few games. I believe we will go to a bowl, but we got to get eligible first.

You guys are probably the ones that want to hang the Christmas ornaments up right after 4th of July!

Bowl Games??? Bowl Games???? We need to worry about Ole Miss. Period.

this is the type of distraction that leads to losses..let's hope the players don't read this tripe..DUKE started talking bowl and laid an egg this weekend. We are not back to being a shoe in for 6,7, or 8 wins. There are players on Ole Miss, UK, and to some extent Vandy that think they can keep us from bowling this year...

A fair point. Please, no one mention the words "mules" and Ole Miss in the same sentence.

one game at a time... I guess in staying on topic...

if we win out, we are good for atleast the Outback Bowl...however, if LSU slips against Ole Miss or (more probable) Arkansas, I think we may jump to the Capitol One Bowl.

If we lose one game, I think we might be looking at the Chick Fil A Bowl, if we drop two, probably the Music City Bowl. If we lose three.... no need to talk about this.

I for one think it is kind of fun to day dream about what bowl we may end up playing in. I highly doubt this article will have any impact on the outcome of the Ole Miss game. For one thing, CLK is not going to let the players look too far down the road.

Go Vols!

Lotta fun that'd be!I say Cotton Bowl all the way!King Cotton!I think we may wind up ranked in the Top Ten on the Final poll of the year!We did it with that"idiot Q.B."!

Very true. But I don't think the coaching staff will let the team look ahead. The beatdown yesterday was evidence of that.

That's the way I see it, too. This staff has shown an amazing ability to emphasize the total process of preparing to play and to sell that approach to the team. It uses emotion intelligently but does not overly depend on getting the team "up". All this bowl talk is on the fans; the team is only worried about the next PLAY; they don't even worry about the GAME until it's over.

Agree but I think they just want fan opinions, that's all. I think they did a similar poll before the season even started. This game is a bit scary though. Although playing well, this team probably still has some lingering confidence issues that an ugly loss right now could bring to the forefront, possibly altering the rest of our season - a season that does not yet qualify for a bowl. Of course, Lane and company have had them ready to play every week and the past few, the results have been spectacular. Go Vols!!! By the way, I voted Outback.

For those who feel talking about bowl games is premature and could bite us in the derriere (sp). I don't think it makes any difference what a bunch of guys/gals on the internet say or think about our team. We don't have to take them one game at a time. It's the attitude and preparation of the Vol coaches and players which should concern us. That's my opinion for what it's worth, which is nothing. Go Vols. I hope to the Cotton Bowl which is a reasonable drive for me. Unfortunately, the last time I was there was the Vols/K State game.

In case it makes you feel better about the Cotton Bowl, it will be played indoors in the new "Jones-Mahal". The game with K-State was played in the outdoor stadium on, IIRC, a cold, rainy day, which made the loss even more miserable. I would surely take a Cotton Bowl appearance, but I voted for the Outback Bowl, since it is closer and nearer to our prime recruiting territory.

PS: You spelled "derriere" correctly; congratulations(;-D)!

By the time all the numbers are in, I think you will find most programs have experienced lower attendance this year. All that newspaper and TV talk about the recession and high unemployment IS about real events, after all. Not only that, but many people who are NOT in financial difficulty have had the available credit on their credit cards reduced and their interest rates increased. Taken together, this translates into less spending on sports events and other "non-essentials".
