Glad to go back for a night game!

Who are the bulldogs that you are talking about? We have the Ole Miss Rebels, Vanderbilt Commodores, and the Kentucky Wildcats left to play!

The Vols will have been on TV every game except the Ohio game (assuming the Kentucky game is televised). That's really good for a rebuilding year, and great for recruiting. Good work, Coach Kiffin.
GO VOLS!

I'll be there to cheer on UT, but the University promised us we would never have to play a night game in November ever again. ESPN is ruining it for us.

Oh well, I'll tough it out, but I'm not going to pass on my right to whine and complain a bit.

Late November night game...time to bring out the orange long johns!

Damn it. I hate ESPNU's coverage. DirecTV doesn't carry it in HD; makes my eyes hurt to watch it.

I don't see why it shouldn't be on SEC Regional TV.

I agree, and it cause me to miss church by the time I drive home two hours. We sold our soul, not to the company store, but to ESPN and CBS. Oh well.

Make that, " it causes me to miss church, etc"

I hope the commodes wear black, and I hope there is a power outage, so that the disgraceful, putrid, rancid, rotten rubbish heap referred to as a football team from Vandy does not cross my line of sight. God Bless Joe Thompson and God rest the soul of George Cafego.

Same with Dish Network - ESPNU is not in HD and painful to watch.

stevefrommemphis writes:

Yet another slap in the face of all fans, especially out of town fans who have to drive long distances to get to these games.

I hope it's 30 degrees with freezing rain and 5,000 people show up.

All hail ESPN - ruler of all sports!

these night games are horrible...especially this late in november...REALLY cold & especially difficult for out of town visitors. give me a day game every saturday!

Fryinpansvols writes:

Sweet! I'm glad its a night game and not a 11:00 AM Central start. Now, I'll be able to go to the game! I've been to the last five games between UT and Vandy. GBO!

Yes it does....Althought ESPNU isn't in HD with my Charter, it still beats the hell outta PPV (and it's stupid drunk announcer) and the snowy SEC Network station here on Charter in West Tn...No HD SEC Channel here....Oh Yeah, Go Vols, Beat Vandy BAD...for Joe Thompson....Savannah, Tn's favorite VOL

VolunteerPassion writes:

VerizonFios has it as a regular channel and its on HD!! Woooo

I guess I'm lucky to be able to have Verizon Fios where I am. I get ESPN U in HD and it looked great last weekend as we were going up and down the field against Memphis. I'll be tuned in at 7 p.m. to watch the Vols slam those Commode Doors!

What time is church?

Not that I hold you to the same standard (I'm the preacher and must be there), but I have been to many night-time games in Knoxville and driven back to Memphis in order to be at church at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

This past weekend I was lucky enough to take a vacation weekend and didn't have to drive back the 378 miles through the night, but I still went to church in Knoxville on Sunday morning.

If you want to be there, a two hour drive home after a night-time game won't prevent it from happening.

That's why flasks were invented. Go Big Orange!!

FatherVol writes:

Do you think the 7:00 p.m. start on Saturday hurt the crowd with it being homecoming et al? I know when I was at UT the fraternities and sororities had dances on Saturday night after the game, many with bands hired months in advance. With game times being announced only two weeks before they are played it puts a real strain on such events. Could that explain the big empty section in section E & F on for the Memphis game?

I wish every game at Neyland was under the lights. Plus I'm sure that the seniors and Eric Berry would prefer their last home game to be a night game.

Can someone in Knoxville tell me if the UT vs. Vandy game is on ESPN U is it also shown on a local channel in Knoxville too?

Volunatic writes:

Although I prefer to go to games in the afternoon, I understand when TV necessitates the night games. I dislike it when Hamilton makes PPV games start at 7 pm, though.

I remember when night games were reserved for early in the season when it was hot. Nevertheless, I prefer them to the noon day sun.

I guess my husband and I will go to Beef O'Brady's and watch the game like we did last week..It is defintiely a fun and comfortable place to watch a game..It has more TV's than you can imagine!!! I'm not sure how many, but I know there's a lot of them!!!

Left in the middle of the 3rd quarter last week, made it back to Nashville, around midnight. I was praying for a day game...Last years UK game was brutal with the driving rain and cold.

Day or Night, Bubba sees Kiffen once again taking
no prisoners. Vols up by 3 to 4 TD's in first qtr. and another early onsides kick, just for the
heck of it. Third string in by fourth quarter, Vols blow 50 point lead, and win by 5 TD's. Yes,
it can get cold at night that time of year, but
to see Kiffen do in another bush league team, Priceless!

I'd just like to say that pay per view and ESPNU stinks... I think they should be ashamed to make us pay for a game on television... we put up with the traffic, we purchase UT merchandise, we support the team and we should be able to watch the game on TV without having to pay extra... I know a LOT of people who are not going to support the Vols or the SEC anymore if they don't stop this... Especially with the economy the way it is... college football games should be for the good of the community... this just makes people mad... I propose a boycott of any VOL merchandise... I'm sorry, I'm just upset... when I read that this weekend's game will also be on ESPNU, it just hit me wrong... two weekends in a row... that stinks...

cdonsbach writes:

ESPNU is awesome, being able to tailgate for 9 hours before the game is even more awesome.
GO VOLS!

TNPilgrim writes:

I suppose ESPNU is OK if you get it - however, it means another night at a sports bar for those in West Knox County who have Charter cable.

scott_m99 writes:

This isn't in reference to the Vandy game, but I'm hoping someone has the answer.

I'm looking for tickets for the UT / Kentucky game in Lexington and wanted to know if anyone knew what sections of Commonwealth stadium are for the visitors. I want to sit with the UT contingent...

Thanks

bobbytodd writes:

Its not ESPNU it is your cable company. Just switch to DishNetwork. Its included with the 200 channel package for about $50 a month $10 more for about 60-70 HD channels. The only drawback to the U is the 3rd string announcers. Everybody is complaining but I watched UT/Memphis without PPV....and the HD complaints??? really? is our society really getting that spoiled? I love football because it is a tough blue collar sport and there are complaints about the number of pixels on your 50 inch tv! Somebody is getting a little limp wristed.

Me too KV, I also added it for $5 for the Tiger game. I hate Charter though, worst cable I've ever had!

writer#358485 writes:

I’m just glad the Vols will be on TV. Not living in the state, any TV is better than none. However, I can’t stand any part of ESPN. Their announcers are arrogant and ignorant and spend far, far too much time spouting off nonsense during the game.

However, I have a solution for that. I’m close enough (in Georgia) that I can just get the game on radio and mute the TV sound—best of both worlds! I just want to watch the game and hear the basic calls (who carried the ball, who made the tackle, down and yardage), not listen to some vastly over-paid, self-important, babbling, empty heads.

But then, for the basically the same reasons, I don’t watch any TV other than the Vols and SEC football. Except for football, I wouldn’t own an idiot box (of course my wife and kids/grandkids won't let me get away with that-ha). It’s much easier and quicker for me to read the news and other information on the net and you get to pick and choose what you want to read--amazing invention, the Internet. That way you can ignore all the talking empty-heads of all varieties, especially ESPN.

Go Vols! Beat Ole Miss and I’ll be able watch you in Tampa in January along with the rest of the Vol Nation! But I’ll be watching, whatever bowl they’re in. I’ve been following the Vols closely every year since the late 1940s, except when I was in places where I couldn't get them and was too busy trying to avoid getting shot anyway.

topgun writes:

A big AMEN to that. During the Memphis game, the U announcers spent most of the second half rattling off about everything but the VOLS and the ballgame--as if anyone who watches UT vs Memphis is really interested in listening to such blather--Cincinati team and coach, ad nauseum--during the game.

Finally, I just turned the volume off. This is where it would be great if we could listen to the radio in sync with the TV. I know some of you don't like the UT radio team, but anything would be better than the U team. GOVOLS!!

AGREE. I'm one of those out of town fans with large family that will NOT be doing the night driving. Really angry that gametimes are dictated by ESPN and not fans.
