First quarter recap: Ole Miss 14, Vols 7

OXFORD, Miss. - The Tennessee defense hasn't found an answer for Dexter McCluster yet.

The Vols offense has at least supplied one to offset the Mississippi weapon.

McCluster punched in a pair of touchdowns with athletic runs against UT's vaunted defense, and the Rebels lead 14-7 after the first quarter at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium thanks to his 66 yards on six carries.

Jonathan Crompton provided some resistance on the other side of the ball with a 16-yard scoring pass to Jeff Cottam midway through the quarter, the second touchdown catch of his career.

Unprepared. Undisciplined. Poorly coached. Let's see if we can fix that in the second half. Ole Miss doesn't want to seem to punt.

we have got to figure out how to stop McCluster! we could start by not missing tackles.

Rarely does one player determine the outcome of a football game. But McCluster is making it one of those games. Toooo fast! Think ill go out in yard and piddle....this could be ugly.

There have been two crucial holding calls missed on his TD runs...even though he probably would have gotten in anyway.

Obvious that we must stop McCluster.

Eric Berry needs to stay back in the safety position with this beast going wherever he wanted this first half.

Defensive ends need to stay on the outside. McClester will not produce inside the tackles.

I couldn't agree more...there was a hold right in front of the line judge by the biggest man on the field during McAll-World's first run. There was also a blatant off-sides miss on one of our punts that would've given us a first down...PITIFUL!

Snead has been limping around for over a quarter and we're still setting our D like he is all-world...McCluster...well, looks like we planned for him like just any other normal player...a huge mistake.

I have to agree...I haven't griped one time about coaching this season...looks like the events of this week haven't affected the players near as adversely as it has the coaches.

NOW ADJUST AND STOP MAKING OLE MISS LOOK LIKE THEIR PRE-SEASON RANKING! GOOD GRAVY!
