The Tennessee Lady Vols were hurting in more ways than one Friday night.
Despite a dominant volleyball start, Tennessee fell in five games at Auburn, 25-11, 25-20, 22-25, 21-25, 15-17.
"This was a tough loss,'' UT coach Rob Patrick said. "The injuries we've accumulated over the course of the season finally caught up to us tonight. We were playing with our third lineup in as many weeks and we just weren't as consistent and comfortable as we normally are.
"Even with three starters out, I thought we did a good job of staying in the match. We just shot ourselves in the foot too many times with missed serves and other unforced errors."
Alyssa Hilby is out for the season with a knee injury and Emily Steinbeck (finger) and Natalie Guerra (foot) are out indefinitely.
Regardless, the big guns still roared for Tennessee (19-7, 12-4 SEC) against Auburn (15-12, 7-9), led by Nikki Fowler's 22 kills and 15 digs.
Chloe Goldman had 23 digs and Kayla Jeter had 15 kills.
Kelsey Mahoney had 53 assists and 19 digs.
