Golden to sign with Vols on Tuesday

The Tennessee men's basketball team will add a second signee to its class of 2010 on Tuesday.

Trae Golden, a 6-foot-1 point guard from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga., sent a text message to the News Sentinel on Monday morning indicating that he will sign at a 10:30 a.m. ceremony at his high school Tuesday.

Golden is rated the No. 55 player in the Rivals 150.

Jordan McRae, a 6-6 shooting guard from Liberty County High School in Midway, Ga., signed with the Vols on Thursday. McRae is rated the No. 6 shooting guard in the nation by Scout.com, and Rivals.com has him ranked as the No. 42 player in the nation on its Rivals 150 list.

Golden and McRae are teammates on the Atlanta Celtics AAU team.

Wednesday was the first day of the November “early” signing period, and it runs through this coming Wednesday.

The Vols are still in the running for 6-8 power forward Tobias Harris, the No. 5 player in the nation according to Rivals. Harris, from Dix Hills, N.Y., has said he will sign Wednesday and announce his decision on Thursday.

I'm confused. Shouldn't that either read "announce Wednesday and sign Thursday" or "announce Thursday and sign next Wednesday"?

Does anyone know the dirt on where we stand with Tobias Harris? Would love to get him as well.

Signing period ends this Wednesday so he has to sign before Thursday. Why announce on Thursday? dunno. Pomp and circumstance for 18 year olds.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on Harris.. Though it would be a huge get.. Pinkston is another to keep your eye on.. He's announcing Wednesday too..

We need the power forward badly. We will graduate Chism, and can't assume Emmanuel Negedu will ever be back. So we will only have Williams, Woolridge, and Hall back as 4/5 players. And no one knows how well Woolridge will do trying to play the 4, or how well Hall will do at either the 4 or 5. And Williams will be a senior next year. In order to have a reliable rotation next year and the year after for the 4 and 5 spots, we need to sign post players/power forwards this year, it seems to me.

We also need to get the point gauard Trae Goleden signed, because Maze will graduate this year, and Goins will be a senior next year, I think. By signing Golden now, he can be ready to go year after next.

Way to go, Coach Pearl, keep reeling them in!!!

Pinkston, I forgot. I think we are one of the better schools on his list, right? Hopefully, we'll land one of them.

I think Woolridge has the patience to stick around and be a great Junior/Senior player. I think he will be a great contributer after this season.

Jordan McCrae is your shooter and we already have him in the bag. We really need inside bodies now.
