JayVaughn Pinkston’s college basketball choice will have to wait. The 6-foot-6 forward from Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., did not make any announcement Wednesday and will hold off making a decision until the late signing period.
“JayVaughn and his family have decided that he will not make his college choice decision today," New Heights athletic director Kimani Young told Adam Zagoria of zagblogs.com. "He’s not 100 percent sure where he wants to go to school so rather than make a rush decision he’ll just wait until the spring.”
The New York Daily News reported on its Web site Tuesday that Pinkston, considered the top high school player in New York City, would sign with Tennessee on Wednesday.
Villanova, Seton Hall, St. John’s and Marquette are also possible destinations for Pinkston.
“He’s going to go to the best situation for him,” Young told zagblogs.com.
It's not clear what Pinkston's decision means for Tobias Harris, the No. 5 player in the country out of Dix Hills, N.Y.
Harris, a 6-8 forward, is believed to have narrowed his choices to the Vols and Syracuse.
Harris sent a text message to the News Sentinel on Tuesday confirming the Vols are still in the running. Harris is expected to sign today and announce his decision Thursday at the ESPN Zone in Times Square on ESPNU.
Trae Golden, a 6-1 guard of McEachern High in Powder Springs, Ga., signed Tuesday joining 6-6 shooting guard Jordan McRae of Liberty County, Ga.
The Vols have as many as five scholarships to offer in the Class of 2010, though it is believed UT will only sign four.

So much for that.

Harris was at the game last night.
Even if Harris does sign, I don't think that should deter Pinkston. Considering Pearl's style, both could see time right off the bat and be very successful.

when he slammed that dude it was awesome. Every team needs a scrappy white guy to hold the team together.

That makes it more likely that Harris committed when he was at the game last night.

Here is a link to an article talking about Tobias visit to TN last night. He will be wearing TN orange next year.

I don't think Harris' decision had anything to do with Pinkston's decision. The reason being, if he knew Harris' decision would affect his then he probably would have set his announcement up after Harris' announcement. Harris' father has stated when they were going to announce for weeks now. This sounds more like someone sowing the seeds of doubt in kids head after it was leaked he was going to sign with Tennessee. This is why it's so much better if people can keep it from leaking. When all the involved schools have multiple schools to duel then it's more difficult to concentrate your attack. You don't think after it was leaked last night that TN was the choice that every other school didn't call him and his people and negative recruit against TN. When you here the same negative message from several mouths then it could certainly give you pause. Remember he hasn't taken one official visit yet due to testing. He's taken unofficial visits, but you could see how words could easily make him hesitate and make sure that TN is the place he wants to go.

Actually, the early signing period ends today (11/18) so Pinkston can't delay his signing until after Harris announces because that is after the deadline. Harris has to *sign* the papers today even if he does not *announce* his decision until tomorrow. By not signing today, Pinkston must wait until the spring signing period begins in April, when he will have full information about his options.
Of course, he could *announce* Friday but what would be the point of that?

I don't know abou thte rest of you, but in order for me to believe Harris was at the game, I need DNA, pictures, a letter from his grandmother, a urine sample, and twitter, myspace, and Facebook updates from him and his dad all to prove he was there...
Although, I don't really care as long as he signs with us. Looks like a top 10 class coming together.

If we tell you that you're right, can you just leave now? I mean, you really must be DYING to be right so you can "go away FOREVER". What's your purpose about informing UT fans on a UT board about only 2 recruits? What's the endgame? What ambition in life do you have, if any? What's your purpose in life any ways? I wonder about people like you who are so devoid of attention and affection that this is the only way to get any satisfaction, hence the "me" and "I" focus.

Can we hold a moratorium on responding to trolls who claim to have "TRUTH" but refrain from showing "EVIDENCE"? Even debating with someone can be construed with giving them legitimacy.
Someone just show a picture of Harris at the game and we can be on our way talking about the newest Vol once he announces tomorrow.

From the sequence of events it doesn't look like Pinkston wil sign with Tennessee. Must be afraid of competition from Harris. Some egos can't stand to share the spotlight.

I guess it was too much to hope that we would get both Harris and Pinkston. Of the two, I prefer Harris. If we do get him, and he is all everybody says he is, we could be in better shape for next year than I thought. We will smaller than this year and not as deep, but we shouldn't fall completely out of the national and post-season picture.

I'm a Syracuse fan, and have been reading everything I can about this situation. So I'm certainly biased...
It just seems to me that if Harris came to Knoxville last night to sign with UT, they would have milked it....if nothing else, this whole recruitment process has shown the Harris family (mainly dad) to be publicity hounds...what better place to make the announcement than at the game, surrounded by UT faithful? Announce it to the crowd...let Harris take a bow....it just seems like that would have been the perfect scenario.
Instead, Harris is going to announce at 5:30 tomorrow night in New York City....and it just so happens that Syracuse is playing in Madison Square Garden at 7:00. He can announce, and be sitting behind the Syracuse bench by tip-off...
We're hoping (and I have no info, this is just a prayer) that the stop in Knoxville last night was a courtesy to Coach Pearl to let him know of his SU intentions...
The JayVaughan Pinkston thing just baffles me, though...that throws a wrench into any thought process...
Great blog you all have here....better than what we have....

I don't know that much about either of them, except that they are both highly-rated and Harris is generally higher-rated than Pinkston, I think. I heard Harris was a somewhat more versatile player who was comfortable handling the ball. I never really thought we would get anybody of the caliber of either of these guys, but you seemed sold on Harris, so I considered that as well. My only interest in any of this is to see UT basketball be as good as it can be. I don't claim to be the last word on any of this, I just say what I think and if I am wrong, I can stand to be corrected.
