Tennessee junior safety Eric Berry has been named a finalist for one of college football’s most prestigious awards.
He’s one of five finalists for the Bronco Nagurski Trophy, given to the national defensive player of the year. The other four finalists are all seniors.
The other finalists: Iowa linebacker Pat Angerer, Alabama tackle Terrence Cody, TCU end Jerry Hughes and Nebraska tackle Ndamukong Suh.
The finalists were announced Thursday by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
The winner will be announced Dec. 7, and the award will be presented at a banquet in Charlotte.
Berry, who made first-team All-American last season as a sophomore, has 70 tackles this season. He has recovered three fumbles and intercepted two passes.
Cody blocked two UT field-goal attempts, including one on the last play of the game to preserve Alabama’s 12-10 victory last month. He anchors the middle of Alabama’s defense, which ranks second nationally.
Hughes, who was a finalist for the award last season, has 10.5 sacks. Suh leads Nebraska in tackles, has 13 tackles for losses and has blocked three kicks. Angerer has 119 tackles.

Cody should get the "Right Place at the Right Time" award if the field goal "block" against us is what he's hanging his chances on.

as I posted on the other link: When Eric Berry wants an egg, he breaks open a chicken. Speaking of DBs, I'm sure I was as surprised as RobE when #18 Tyler Wolf took the field against Ole Miss. From what I saw from row 3 behind the bench he played ok. What's the story on him....some of you guys know everything, so I am sure you can fill me in. UT site just has his high school. Go Vols! Beat Candy like a red headed step-Gator!

agreed. like every d-bag should be called DaMan29, it just seems to flow naturally together.

Very rarely do I hear something here that I've never heard before. that was a good one.

you couldn't just let it go could ya? I retract my "agreed". Peyton is synonymous to football player now. As in soon to be this year's MVP and Super Bowl Champion. Rob, you can chew on that one as well!

Why are you here? It is because you and the rest of the Bammer turds fear Kiffin!
Go back to the Crimson Turd boards with the rest of the Bammer Morons.
Cody should win the "I got away with removing my helmet" award.
Hope you enjoy the whatever-2 season with a loss in the SECG and a bowl game. If you don't get any hardware, a possible unbeaten regular season means squat!
GO VOLS!

LMAO. Cody should also get the 'Wait Till The Pros Whack My Fat Gut And I Puke Myself Award'

John Elway was my favorite High School player in Granada Hills, Ca. Watched him many times also in college three times. Only saw him once as a pro. But don't know what that has to do with this article.

It’s kind of funny when you think about all the gator and bammer trolls around here preaching that EB has been underutilized and converted into an ‘average’ player under Monte, yet he’s a finalist for one of the most prestigious defensive awards in the country. Goes to show how much they know.
RespectTradition writes:
Go EB!
Go Vols!
Side note: They should rename the trophy to the Reggie White award. Since he is without a doubt the greatest defender to ever wear cleats.

Ole Ferret-gut can't stay away. I have some memories of the Tide as well. Came to Knoxville in 1982 ranked #2 after beating Penn State. Left with their trunks between their legs after an unranked Tenn team beat them. Bear never recovered. Croaked a few months later. And if ya want an embarassment, lift up that ferret-gut and take a look betwix yo legs fool.
