NASHVILLE, Tenn. — South Carolina freshman wide receiver Alshon Jeffery when he was being recruited by Tennessee, Vols Coach Lane Kiffin told him if he stayed home to play for South Carolina, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life.
Kiffin denied saying it. And whether Kiffin said it or not, the quote was widely distributed and attributed to the first-year Vols coach.
After three UT freshmen were charged with attempted armed robbery outside a convenience mart last week, it didn't take long for the worm to turn on Kiffin.

I agree it makes me think of Bowden and his selective punishment. Lets say he did not know about the robbery he was still in a car with drugs after failing a drug test two weeks before. If your going to keep one on the team you might as well keep them all. So far the only message sent is IF you can contribute to the team at a high level we will fight to keep you on IF not then we can afford to do away with you. I also dont understand why its taking so long to get this information from what I heard on a sports radio show here in East Tenn. is he was in the car not in the store and a store employee was walking around the parking lot sweeping up he then got out of the car and told the other two lets go. The man that was in the store was freinds with the ones that was getting held up. Also why was Oliver in the mall on game day I always thought the team stayed together?

Why can't everyone just relax and wait until all the details come out and CLK makes a decision? Everyone wants to run with rumors (failed drug test...not confirmed)(gas pumpin' gamecocks...not confirmed). Respect for leaders at all levels in life gets lost when the leaders throw people under the bus with no facts to support it. If JJ is guilty of this crime or drug use, my bet is he's gone too.
Dthenc and reyem are pathetic trolls and we just need to ignore them. All they want is attention and if we ignore them they will go to another team's page so they can get attention.
The focus right now needs to be on Vandy because with all our injuries and lack of depth, we could get surprised if we're not careful. That would be a very sad ending to an otherwise pretty decent season.
Go Vols!!

Seriously, the trolls can say what they want about CLK and our staff and our team. We can tell them they're all scared and nervous and defend our Vols. We've seen what CLK and staff did with our team this year. We know Florida is starting it's decension back into mediocrity. Within two years it appears there will be three to four powerhouses in the SEC, UT, Alabama, Ole Miss (maybe), and LSU (depending on coaching and staff there..I wouldn't be surprised to see Les Miles go to ND or Michigan). I am so glad that we have "informed" posters such as you on here to make sure that we know the "truth". I know its completely impossible to comprehend that maybe, just maybe, he DIDNT know there was drugs in the car. (I drove to AL and back to FL with a friend that had coke the whole time and I didnt know til we were on our way back, if she would have gotten caught theyd have to put us in seperate cells), so who says ya cant catch a ride to the store and back with some being in the car. (it was in her pocket and glovebox, not out in the open) And the failed drug test? I havent heard Kiffin say or anyone who has any REAL credibility say that that was the reason for the suspension. Cause I have also heard it was for fighting on the strip. I also heard it was because he was late to practice too many times. So which "informant" am I supposed to believe? Read further and youll see why ya shouldnt believe everything the news media, sports radios, espn, and even KNS spews out.
As far as this goes, I think KNS should be ashamed of itself for constantly tryin to come up with something, ANYTHING to try to embarrass their own area and their school. They should be supporting UT, not tryin to bring it down. How much are the gay-tors paying you guys to do this? When the VOLS win a game we get 1 story about it. You list details and then its over. You dont do one story on UT winning, and then ANOTHER story on the rushing yards and who got what, and then ANOTHER story about the receiving yards and who got what, and ANOTHER story about the defences stuff... get the idea? So if ya cant make multiple stories out of them beating someone, or even coming close to beating a really good team (bama), then why make multiple stories out of these things? Really tired of selective news reporting... honestly, this story is nothing more than yall showing how bias yall are... IF you insist on writing the same story over and over (more or less), at least get the stories right.

So without proof he said it, the Tennesseean, a mainstream newspaper, will print the quote any way. What school of journalism did this writer go to? Wouldn't it be nice to verify the facts?
That is like writing: "The Duke Lacrosse team has been accusued of raping two female dancers. The team members deny it. Regardless, many people believe that they did it, so we should accept it as fact and put them all in jail."
Woodward and Bernstein have nothing to fear from this writer.
What shoddy journalism.

Nice trolll........ Too bad you got so much wrong.
In the first place, Janzen wasn't in the car when it went down; he was in the store.
Second, there is no evidence to suggest that Janzen has ever failed a drug test. That is just a nasty rumor that seems to be mostly restricted to this site.
As far as Oliver being home when the rest of the team was in Menphis, Oliver is being redshirted this year. As such, he wasn't travelling with the team.
Now, the next time you want to show your a**, why don't you go home to the Swamp where they are used to the sight.

Do you Honestly think you are going to change any ones mind on this web-site?
Do yourself and the world a favor, use your time in a more constructive manner. Volunteer some where, help the poor, get a life, your obsession is not healthy and it really is sad.
Let me ask you a question. When Spurrier was coach at Florida and making all the comments about UT, were you on the Florida board criticiaing him?
jstrewh2#441076 writes:
Lane Kiffin has shown more discipline than Urban Meyer or most other coaches. No he has not made a decision on Jackson but Jackson is suspended and that is discipline. If I remember right Meyer suspended a guy 1/2 a game for trying to poke someones eye out. Yeah that's discipline. Spikes with his past should have been gone and I think Kiffin would have kicked him off the team. Florida fans cannot say anything about discipline. Most S.E.C. coaches are living in fear because not only can this guy recruit but he can coach. Meyer and Saban both got out coached by a 34 year old coach. LOL
navarrebeachvol writes:

VolFanFtl writes:
Yes, Urban is the class in the SEC, so much so he suspenden Spikes for a whole 30-minutes. Also, he allows a member on his team the fired an AK-47 in public and beat up a girl.
Listen, I live in Florida, that is not class.
Quote from ESPN article:
"We know Meyer is forgiving. In 2008, he allowed offensive lineman Ronnie Wilson back on the team as a walk-on a year after Wilson pulled an AK-47 to settle a disagreement with a man he'd already punched and spit on. Wilson rewarded Meyer's faith in October 2008 by, according to a Gainesville police report, getting into a fight at an off-campus apartment that left a woman with a broken wrist."

The interesting side of this is that Urban mostly suspended people for meaningless games. The Gator fans are on here complaining even after Kiffin dismissed 2 players. In UF, they would have been suspended for the FIU game and reinstated for the SECC game.
VolFanFtl writes:
JenB, you are correct, however, I haven't found the entire list of all 30 players, even though I live here in Fort Lauderdale. My list is from 2005 -2/2009. If you have that list or link, let me know and I will be happy to post it as a response anytime one of those pitiful Gator trolls, posts on our web-site.
navarrebeachvol writes:
LOL. was that another of your attempts at humor? Meyer is the class of college football? Personally, I want him to stay right where he’s at so Kiffin can wipe that silly smirk off his face next year.
gatorbaitheaven writes:
As I have said before Meyer has an average of 5 players arrested each year he has been there. Shifty Kiffy has 4 arrest/incidents and maybe more he just forgot to mention. They are pretty close.
The only reason fans from other teams say stuff is because of all the rock throwing Vol fans did all summer. Anytime a Gator or Bama player steped into it yall were all over it on are fan boards chunking rocks. It did not matter then what the players did or the circumstance it only mattered that they were on a different team than your own. So your going to have to learn to take it if your going to dish it out
VolFanFtl writes:
Let's look at another fact about "classy" Urban Meyer, that is actual fact:
SEC Fines for Head Coaches:
Urban Meyer - $30,000
The remainder of the SEC Head Coaches - $0
Yes, classy. He is a league of his own.
JenB writes:
I found it awhile ago... I will have to try and remember where that was at...
VolFanFtl writes:
A couple of things Einstein. Yes, there have been 4 incidents in 11 months which is unacceptable, however, it is still an area that Florida leads. The saddest part is the number of multiple incidents that Meyers players have.
Second, I would say the same thing to UT fans as I say to you. If one of your greatest enjoyments in life is to go on an other fans web-site and waste your time - you have a sad life and need another outlet. You are not going to convince any Vol fan on this site that your are right, so for yor own sake, please get a life.
VolFanFtl writes:
Jen, thanks. I know your number is correct, I will also look at some news outlets here in Florida.
Mr_Brownstone writes:
would little softie (oscar meyer) say anything better or different?

No 3 Arrest 1 Incident and we agree it is unacceptable for any team. On the multiple incidents it kinda reminds you of the Jackson case dont it 1 fight on the strip / Failed drug test we wont know which it was cause Shifty Kiffy wont say. And now Armed Robbery that sounds like multiple Arrest/ Incidents. And I dont enjoy seeing any kids on any team get into trouble but it has been quite enjoyable to see that smirk wiped off his face. All teams have bad players no matter how carefull you are you are bound to get some bad apples thats just the way it works it seems to come with high profile players. It would be nice if they were all like Tebow and Berry but they arent. And now Vol fans are just getting some of the medicine you have been handing out. It is not any fun when people invade your board is it. I myself come here because it is one of two Tenn papers I read every morning most times I dont comment unless it is related to the Gators. One question has anyone said why Oliver was not with the team on game day that just seems strange I have never heard of a player going shoping on game day makes no sense to me.
VolinCalif writes:
You have it right TJ. There was a lot of BS going on at that time. Alshon later said that Kiffin never made that statement. As I remember it was a recruiter in the room with Alshon that commented that Kiffin had said that. Oh well no one can stop the Sh.. at this point in the game.
VolFanFtl writes:
Again, we can do this all day.
1. Where is you proof that Jackson failed a drug test? There is no proof. There is a rumor down here in Florida that Tebow and Urban are lovers. Just because it's a rumor doesn't make it true.
2. It is not armed robbery, they were charges with attempted armed robbery. It was a stupid move and the two players involved were kicked off the team.
3. "Vol fans are just getting some of the medicine you have been handing out." I have NEVER been on a Gator web-site. Get your facts straight.
4. "I myself come here because it is one of two Tenn papers I read every morning." I live in Fort Lauderdale and read the Sun-Sentinel and Miami Herald. I have never posted anything about the Gators - my time is too improtant to me.
4. "One question has anyone said why Oliver was not with the team on game day that just seems strange I have never heard of a player going shoping on game day makes no sense to me." Could it possibly mean that he was simply out before he had to report for the pre-game? Are UF players locked up all day before an evening game? Further, maybe we can find out why he was out before a game if and when we find out why your player, Wilson, had an AK-47 in his car and fired it on campus. Can you please explain that to me. Then explain why Urban let him back on the team and why he then beat up a women.
VolunteerLifer writes:
Is your post designed to deflect attention from the fact that the coach of your team passed out a 1/2 game suspension to a player who contributes alot on the field for deliberately, premeditatedly assaulting a defenseless man in an attempt to do him irreparable physical harm and to injure him greatly for life?
