UTC quarterback B.J. Coleman excited to face Alabama

— B.J. Coleman always dreamed of starting a game in Bryant-Denny Stadium one day. The original plan wasn't for him to be wearing a University of Tennessee at Chattanooga uniform, however.

The Mocs' quarterback, whose spent two years at Tennessee before transferring to UTC, will make his first start against a Southeastern Conference opponent Saturday when UTC (6-4) wraps up its season against Alabama.

"It's every kid's dream when they're young to play against the No. 1 team in the country," Coleman said, though the Crimson Tide are actually ranked No. 2 in the AP poll and Bowl Championship Series standings, "and it's going to be fun to go down and play in Tuscaloosa."

I wish the kid luck the QB's at UT have got a raw deal for the past three or four years with all the changes and goofiness that was going on. I am glad he is starting and winning some games.

If Bama goes on offense first, I wonder if he'll say he isn't getting a fair shot at starting and quit the game

I don't know that I would say I am going to enjoy this one BJ. Your in for a long day against Bama. Not that we have the best players pound for pound but we are alittle more talented than the guys you have around you. Good luck!

I personally could care less if the kid succeeds. I will give you credit that our program has been in turmoil the last few years but the bottom line is when Kiffin & Co were hired to right the ship, this selfish cry baby couldn't handle the competition and be a teammate. He chose to go to a far lesser program where he will not be drafted. Had he stayed and been a team player he would still have a starting shot next season. You can't argue with Kiffin's decisions; Crompton (formerly known as Crapton) of which I was guilty also...is now playing like an All-SEC QB.

Bottom line: He didn't get his way; so he left! Not the kind of player you want when you are rebuilding.

Does anyone know how the season has gone for Coleman? Too bad he got his panties in a wad and quit us before he could learn under the new staff. I suppose there is no chance they could slip up on AL, but I recall the Citadel and UL@Monroe (or was it Lafayette?) recently did. Go Vols!

WOW, I haven't seen you this mad since the gov't took your free cheese away. Did BJ steal your girlfriend and dog too?
Honestly, I am glad he left so better QB's would want to come in here. He did us a favor.

Not good, Waldoof.

When he left UT, BJ was a very immature young man. Facing Alabama will be one more opportunity for him to learn some life's lessons about overcoming adversity. I hope he'll learn his lessons, but I have a feeling that he will just blame his teammates or his coaches if he has a poor performance. After all, he was always blaming someone else for his poor performances here. I hope alabama helps him to grow up.

I will wish anyone success agents bama, but personaly do not think the Mocs' have a chance. BJ looks to have some ok stats, but we will see how he does against an SEC team. If only you could have maned up and waited your turn BJ.

Just because the kid transferred from the UT? Ridiculous! I hope the Mocs upset Bama, improbable as it seems. For the simple reason of screwing up the SEC prez's head to the point of no return.

BJ has a right to make whatever personal decision he wants. A true fan would never wish serious malice or physical harm to a former Vol or even an opponent. That would brand you as lowly as the worse trolls on this site. So I will assume you were joking unless you say otherwise. I trying hard to believe Vols fans have class. Most of us anyway.

We didn't walk in his shoes so we do't know his whole story. Thus are in no position to judge him. He met his coach (Kiffin) and discussed/shared his perceptions and moved on. A rather professional way of doing it, I think. I disagree with his choice as much as you do but it is his life, not mine. I may think he's wasting opportunities but again, it HIS life. Like his former coach (Kiffin) I can wish him the best and hope the best does happen for him. He might even defy all odds and get drafted.

How he does against an SEC team depends on more than just BJ alone. Can his receivers free themselves? Can his OL block well enough for him? Can his RBs move the ball? Can the Moc defense impede the Tide offense enough to prevent a runaway freight train score? It takes more than one man to win a game.
